Stealing is not allowed and this is one of the 10 commandments so this is illegal and bad work if you really want to go in heaven you should dont do this
Better to find a legit way to earn bitcoins so that you have a good reputation in heaven..

I hate those thieves or stealing money from other people.

I think you need to read first on the statement of OP, correct stealing is illegal but base on the OP statement he was generated bitcoin address with the balance accidentally that is why i think that is not form of stealing he only a lucky person on that time

Indeed, and my first question is..Is it possible? But since the thread starter says it...I consider it also a lucky day for him. First, the owner is innocent and the address was generated for him. He did not do anything to steal, its not on his mind or not premeditated.
actually i'm a little doubts with the statement of op because I think it is impossible to get the balance of the address he made even though it obviously is not the act of theft.

Let's say I generate a new address and by some miracle it has Bitcoin already in it belonging to somebody else. Is it legal to just take it? I understand those odds are very low, no need to lecture me, I'm just interested.

Taking something that is not yours is still illegal so YES. One shouldn't take something that is not their property. Just imagine yourself in the position of the owner of the bitcoin. You wouldn't like it right? Don't do something to other that you don't want to happen to yourself.

People should stop looking for an easy way to earn bitcoins. You should work hard for it.

for me it sounds like karma by itself
no matter how many times you try to match a btc address with balance is
like winning the hardest lottery in the world 3-4 times in a row with a single
ticket every time.

so lets say i am the owner and you got my btc balance like that !
i can register myself to Guinness record book so all good ,
have fun spending my bitcoins Smiley

Stealing bitcoin is of course illegal since stealing is taking someones property which is not yours. There is not much authorities can do against it though without proof and since it's bitcoin it's difficult to gather proof.

Its maybe not something that is illegal because there are no rules about this but its just something you should not do and also not try because these people seriously have no life's.
I think that you are than far from good and you should shame yourself for doing it too!

Ok maybe you say how this guy can find me is almost imposible but you never know who is the guy behind the computer.

Simply stealing anything is illegal. Bitcoin is no different. The only difference that there would be is the fact that it would be harder to trace the thief because it was done online. If the Bitcoin that was stolen from you were sent into a gambling site, and then later withdrawn to the thief's Bitcoin wallet, then it would be so hard for you to trace him since it was sent to X wallet address and then it will be withdrawn from Y wallet address into the thief's wallet. It would be hard for you to trace the connection between X and Y wallet addresses.

Bitcoin is not legal so if you will steal bitcoin I guess you will not be prosecuted because that is not illegal, but do not attempt to steal if you do not want to suffer the consequences and that is not a good activity to make money here, you might belong to the scammers here online which are hated by many.

By common sense stealing anything is illegal therefore stealing bitcoin is illegal as well IMO, I think in some countries it's considered a commodity therefore still illegal by the rules in the most of the world, I doubt it's legal anywhere though.

Not sure where you are living, but in most of the countries Bitcoin is not seen as "something illegal". Don't forget that Bitcoin is money. If you steal money, then it's of course illegal. So in that case, if you steal Bitcoin, then it's illegal.

Stealing anything is illegal in the whole world as far as I know, bitcoin is either 1)money as it's considered in most of the world 2) or goods therefore I guess it's technically illegal, How to prosecute the person doing that is the tricky and hard part though.

what do you think? of course it is illegal...
but is hard to police to do something, in most cases they cant even trace the bitcoin to the thief. and even if you know who stole you, how can you prove it is him?

If you are stealing from people's wallets or accounts etc that is plain stealing as it isn't like fiat money, where you may find a few coppers on the street and pick them up.

But do most countries actually have laws that declare Bitcoin as currency?
If you called the police and told them "Someone stole my Bitcoins", 99.9% of them would have no idea what you were talking about.
If you were lucky you might be able to get in touch with someone who investigates hacking and other cybercrimes,
but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Those that steal don't ask for it, they just do it. Of course this is bad, but not for everyone. Some find this the as the only way of living.

As long as the word stealing is used its always be illegal . It's a crime in every country. But the chances of stealing bitcoin will only happen when your cellphone got rob and their got the access on your phone probably that's the only time they got a chance to steal your bitcoin. So still let is all be careful on our data ad on our personal belongings.

It is illegal to steal. It can be anything. It can a currency or anything.  One works hard and earns the bitcoins, but the other takes away from him/her by any source available, either physically or online. Really unbearable dude. This is not a good act. Stealing of anything is illegal. It can be any currency or any valued item. Lets not encourage this using any source.
