Those that steal don't ask for it, they just do it. Of course this is bad, but not for everyone. Some find this the as the only way of living.

It's all about rules from government, religion or whatever, and if this was working in another way, this world would be a mess(already is lol)

Bitcoin is not legal so if you will steal bitcoin I guess you will not be prosecuted because that is not illegal, but do not attempt to steal if you do not want to suffer the consequences and that is not a good activity to make money here, you might belong to the scammers here online which are hated by many.
In your law the government will not punish you as they do not have approve it as a currency or property but morally it is illegal and you have to follow what the morals say to us.

Thats not a question about bitcoin being legal or not, its a bigger question if you have acess to a wallet that you found in the street what you would do, its a inside question, each one will act diferent, but steal will always be steal being digital or into reality.

What is the punishment for those that steal bitcoin? Who can punish this kind of thieves? It seems to me that if nobody ever knows there is nothing illegal.

Stealing anything (but a heart) is illegal.

What is the punishment for those that steal bitcoin? Who can punish this kind of thieves? It seems to me that if nobody ever knows there is nothing illegal.

An example is the HashOcean that stolen money from thousands of people with that fraudulent scheme and nothing happened to them. It's hard to get the thiefs and scammers on the internet because they know how to hidden themselves and we don't have many guarantees here of safe when online, that is one of the very few negative points with Bitcoin and another virtual coins.

Yes but what more important is it is all about business matter. Stealing in the sense of making wise by someone like winning in the gambling, profiting in investing and trading off good in trading makes good way of stealing. But when you say hacking or fooling someone it is not acceptable it is bad stealing. Therefore there is two way of stealing.

Stealing is still stealing. It is a sin, taking other's property without permission, it is still illegal. You should be earning it instead of stealing it. Whether virtual or physical, you should not be doing such things as stealing.

The answer is so obvious here. Of course it is illegal. It is stealing, if this happen to you then you will see it at my own perspective. There is no legal stealing. Even Robin Hood is wrong in what he did.

Stealing is stealing  no matter how  big or small the amount is. You are right even robin hood  did good deeds but still its considered stealing and  its very  illegal. In the case of OP  he didnt intend to  generate new address  with  a bitcoin on it  but  the have no choice at all but  to get those bitcoin rather than to keep and  lost.

I agree, take away something doesn't belong to you is stealing, an illegal activity and could get you into the jail. You should consider about being a victim of bitcoin stolen before want to take other people has.

In your situation it's not illegal to get bitcoin in randomly generated bitcoin address. But generating an existing address and getting bitcoin from the old address is illegal cause the address already have owner and v you have no right to take others bitcoin.

It could be a sin but not illegal, when we say of illegal there should be a basis. The point here is we are talking the law aspect when bitcoin was not regulated by law and is not recognize as a currency or asset, that is my point and every lawyer who will read this will agree with me.

If seomeone stole your bitcoins, would you be mad? If you thought this question before you created this thread you would have found the answer by yourself.

the situation you had mentioned is legal to get and use bitcoin received from randomly generated bitcoin address. but if you generate and use already existing bitcoin address then it's crime in my point of view.

I never exactly understood how people justify stealing. Its really sad, its become part of American culture from politics to your everyday craigslist scammer. Its ridiculous.

As described by most users, whether it is bitcoin or something else, stealing is always not legal as well can't justify when you take it without the owners permission. Users who tried to justify realize only when they belongings' gets stolen.

yeah you are right that its illegal to steal bitcoin from other and i think everything stealing is illegal and bitcoin is a type of currency so we can can not steal it from other person and they can be punished if someone steal it from other.
