This is so cool. I can only tell by the low-res image given on the thread, though. Any idea what that avatar is that's taking up like 20% of the image, especially in the lower section of the image?
Set the html tag for each image to the userID!!!!
You said that they're sorted by color, but the OP says they're sorted from 1 to 820k. You also said that it's only showing the 8+k avatars. Which one!?!?
 Haha, sorry about the confusion. The 9,700 avatars I initially scanned (only png's) is what is going to be used in a mosaic. The 9700 was used in the OP test mosaic above. I'm now at 12,000 avatars now including gif's and jpgs. The avatars are sorted only for the mosaic. On the website, we-are-satoshi.com, the avatars are in order however not everyone has an image so it jumps from uid 10 to 1000 very quickly. |

Small update, scanning is almost complete. It is now at 802,000 and should finish up overnight. Total scan time for this project is ~10 days. Phew!  Later on this week, I will post up examples of some designs and will consider everyone's opinions, so please participate! A fuzzy sneak peak from this weekend:  Water mark "Naypalm" is not in final product. For OP display purposes only. |

Definitely cool. I'm looking forward to hearing more information about the poster. I did have a comment on the design... It seems like some of the avatars are highly used, either because they are stock images or because they are connected to a signature program of some kind. Would it be possible or beneficial to remove the duplicate avatars? Might make it a little more unique if every picture was an original. Although that might severely limit the number of avatars. |

My thoughts exactly. Sunday, I ran through the 12,200 avatars and removed about 2,000 of the duplicates. This way, the avatars that make up the canvas & poster mosaic are larger and easier to see. The website will continue to display all avatars that it is able to scan, as I feel that goes hand in hand with the projects name, We are Satoshi. I hope to optimize the website as well as develop a way for users to look up their avatar image by number, and have it highlight it on a web version of the mosaic, as well as the list. Thank you for your thoughts, I will post more soon. |

Wow, now that is what I call living Art!  ..... It sends out a clear message and it's a brilliant concept. I think I will add a unique Avatar soon, if it is still allowed? I know it was blocked before for some reason, but I will check again. I will definitely make a little donation for this effort and get a snap shot for the friends and family, when they ask me.. " Who is Satoshi again? " Hope to see some of your work again in the near future, it is definitely a joy to experience this. |

Small update: I have ordered and received a test poster which arrived today, and so far, I like it! I will have to check with my printer to see why some were chopped off or if I have to adjust the resolution to fit their poster plotter size. Other than that error, so far so good. What does everyone think? I can't wait to try it out on canvas I may open up a few slots to pre-order once I am certain that all avatars are present on the final print. Yes, and I finally had time to get the mosaic ID search working. Feel free to give it a try! Right click on your avatar or another members avatar and click on Copy Image Address. Paste that into the mosaic ID search and the location of your avatar will be revealed.
 I hope to start getting more prints soon to sell. Sorry about the delay. I didn't want to begin sales until I knew that I could devote more time to the project. naypalm |
