Seems there's a lot of mixed thoughts on the price, so in the interest of community understanding I thought I'd create a simple poll for people to get a sense of what everyone's collective thoughts are on the matter.

For what its worth, if the units are marketed at CHINA as what the earlier Chinese postings seem to suggest they will most likely sell out. I would never underestimate the purchasing power of the Chinese when it comes to speculative investments like these

Only if there any indication when it shipped, otherwise any claimed Roi is well within the speculation area.

Since I got 2 from the first batch, I was thinking to get maybe more from batch 3, but this price changed my mind. I thought it might be overpriced, but not this much ... If it was some computer equipment that I could sell afterwards, hell yeah. But this way, when its of no use, I can only throw it into a trash.

Has anyone from Avalon mentioned what the trade-in value will be on Batch 3 units?  I can see that affecting people's decisions.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

I would have bought a couple of units, but increasing the price 3 times for substantially the same hardware seems a little... abusive? If the exchange rate drops significantly it's unlikely that these units would recover the investment.

Infact it cannot be said "investment" if in this price, "gamble" portion is more.

If anything, Batch 3 customers will make Avalon the Golden goose. Their greed will power the next shrink.

As long as I don't pay the high price, I don't care who puts their money into it. It will only secure Avalon's future viability.

Yep, if it would be $5000+,  i would pass too.
Luckillly, got 88 BTC's last night at $55.1, so ended up with only 88x55.1 =  $4848.  What a deal !!!
