You tell me? I'm on Slushes pool. I'm using a Core i5, 6GB RAM, Intel 400 graphics and using 3 cores.

All times are in UTC.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Yes, CPU mining is unprofitable in ALL cases.

GPU mining will soon be.

If you want to get into the mining business, you'd need an ASIC. Best way is to buy ASICMINER shares.

You have made a grand total of 0,004 USD or 0,4 US cents in 3 days. In a month you'll have 4 whole cents. In a year, you'll have made 48 cents (at current difficulty. Expect actual revenue to be way less).

I started yesterday night but damn, 4 cents? That's riduculous!

I wish I got on to this bitcoin thing when mining was easy.

Ok, now I'm using the Intel 4000 graphics and I'm getting 4 Mhash/s which is a bit better than 1.4!

After CPU mining for about 18 hours I probably made a paltry 0.00009497BTC.

Keep in mind you're likely spending more than this on the electric to run your cpu and gpu at those levels. Check out http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ with some of your numbers. I'd bet you're actually losing money doing this.

I know. I'm having one of those 'coulda, would, shoulda' moments. I knew about btc  a year back but took no action.

This is just a test though, so 1 or 2 days won't hurt.

But imagine a year in the future....

0.00009497BTC could be worth £10,000....

Even Litecoin isn't very profitable using a CPU.  Undecided

It will be a little easier once the difficulty drops. (Since MANY people have moved back to mining bitcoin because of the price jump)
