I was lurking the forum and was surprised to see someone posting about bitcoins on the bodybuilding forum. There seems to be a lot of guys that have no idea what bitcoin is.

...news at 11 Smiley
Seriously, what would you expect? On any forum unrelated with a certain subject, when that subject pops up, there will be lots of people not knowing about it. Then there will be some nonsense replies (as always) and maybe a few people truly interested in learning more about the subject.

  • Bitcoin is blowing up right now! Al gore just promoted it.

Cute how some folks don't seem to be able to investigate for themselves to come to an informed opinion, but rather need reassurance from an authority figure before standing behind something.

  • wasn't it 50ish a couple months ago wtf.

just a couple of months ago wtf is this crazy shit Shocked

tell em about silkroad

and the awesome selection of muscle juice

they can find there.

So we can have a hearty laugh?

Silkroad prices are an absurdity. No one would be desperate enough to order there especially with the high availability of steroids and related drugs through traditional routes.

Ouch - that forum filled with non-tech saavy users, mostly teenagers looking to be ripped and buff. Please don't promote SR to any of those people. People who train should have patience and build it up the natural way. Also steroids have health and social effects that teenagers may not be ready to deal with, and which can put them in a lot of trouble, besides, hardly none of them are good at computers, so having them covering their steps when purchasing their juice online, well, many of them are looking into a disaster..

But as it is - as long as there's a demand - users will find a way...

I love the fact that there is a guy who has 500 bitcoins but doesn't even know what they are worth  Cheesy
Jezus...

EDIT: actually, after reading a bit further I am surprised by how many people know about them.  Guess most 'normal' people wouldn't check the post though.

I saved you the trouble reading the thread, now there was like 5% useful posts there, the rest went like this:

Quote
LOL no thanks this a online currency that someone created that can crash and be worthless in a blink of an eye. Anyone with half a brain would stay away.

Quote
no one should invest in these if looking to profit lol
brb when that chit gets hacked you lose it all. will laugh at ya

Quote
Go ahead and buy if u wannabe be a dumbazz and waste ur money. Search butterfly bitcoin miner I think its called. As I said the more people mining=harder to create one bit coin. Inb4 miscers invest 10k on bitcoins and the price drops to 5$

Quote
ive read some articles that make me question the security of bitcoins
no thanks jeff

Quote
So I could mine a bitcoin, sell it, and make ~$65 dollars?
when I get google fiber, it'll be faster, yeah?

Quote
Classic.
You're trying to Hype it up so that we purchase and that increases the price.
Then you dump and laugh at us fools who bought them coins

Quote
dafuq just half a week ago it was 36 euros for one bitcoin, now I checked it's like 46. I wanted to buy some for silkroad. Guess I now have to wait for them to collapse.

Quote
im a proponent of this concept, but only theoretically, whereas pragmatically its already proven to be a failure.
bitcoins intrinsic infrastructure has already been compromised by crackers already, but its negated because its bad PR.
This will be an epic classic pump and dump, and trust me, one of the innate flaws of not having a centralized system is that when stuff like this happens, no one can step in to readjust or reorganize the system.
the creators are relying on natural determinism, and if the world was actually the ideal utopia they perceive it as, then yes this would be successful.

Quote
bitcoins seem like an easy way to lose a lot of money...
the bitcoin is fuking fiat money but it isn't actually backed up by an entity
you might as well save up fuking bottlecaps in the event that fallout 3 becomes real life

Quote
currency's only value is speculators and people who already spend ridiculous money on graphics cards every 6 months recouping a fraction of the cost by cashing out of bitcoins, oh and buying illegal stuff so the government can't track you...which they are starting to do.
no thanks jeff i'd rather let the federal reserve inflate away all my money.

Quote
There were a couple of website where you would log in and check your bitcoin wallet.
From what I remember, everyone had a different ID and that's what you used for your bitcoin miner, right?
How do I get THAT information back?

Quote
LOL I jUST REMEMBERED I HAVE BIT COINS ON MY SILK ACCOUNT .. i bought them at $2.. I HAVE 150 LOLOLOLOL PROFIT BOYS

Quote
someone aware on WTF bitcoin is??

Quote
420 mh/s my card, compared to 1500000 mh/s the rig. no thanks jeff. Going to lol when this **** crashes and a 29k machine has no use.

Quote
As of right now, DO NOT mine or buy bitcoins, wait until the crash at least.

Quote
Searched a few places and can't find out what a bitcoin actually is. I know bitcoins = some sort of currency but what is the bitcoin itself and why can it be used as currency?

Quote
The only way I know how to make bit coin is to turn a woman into a man. And then turn him into a turkey. Or sell some drug that I can't even sound out

Quote
Youve got to be crazy to invest in bitcoin now. It is extremly voltatile. Also, if one entity is holding a lot of bitcoin and sells it, the price will crash. The real price of bitcoin should be 10 to 12 bucks max. A year ago the price was in single digits. Someone bought a lot of bitcoin amd is ginna cash out. If you think people are running the stock market, watch out for this. You could always take a chance and buy a lot of bitcoin and sell it. Is too dangerous to hold on to.

Quote
Bitcoin crashed only a few months ago. Do not ake idiot op's advice.
It would have been s art if you bought it when it bottomed out after its many crashes. Its what people do, buy up coins, sell a lot, crash its value, and rebuy. Cycle constantly repeats.

Quote
I am actually surprised that bitcoin is still around for round 2 of tulip mania. This exact same thing happened in mid-2011 and it was all the same crap being posted - bitcoin is here to stay, invest now, etc etc. Then a TON of people starting mining, difficulty shot way up, and they stopped being profitable to mine. Once that occurred, the price crashed - and it will happen again.
If you want to invest [speculate] then by all means do so, just make sure you get out when they start to crash [again].

Quote
wtf is a bitcoin and how do i make em

Quote
in b4 ppl run their pcs all night and die from heat

Quote
bitcoin is stupid.
people only buy it because of the fact that you can trade it for real currency.

Quote
how many bitcoins do you need to buy a neck-beard comb?

Quote
bitcoins will never take off because it's fukking impossible to understand lmao. try to explain how to "mine" bitcoins to a 60 year old

Quote
So lets say I buy this, it doubles in value, who the phuck is going to pay me for it? I can't go grocery shopping with bitcoins nor can I pull them out of a ATM. All there is are a bunch of shady dealers without any legal backening at all. No thanks Jeff.

And for your amusement, I took a snapshot of a couple of the regulars:

Douce1: Yo, bro.. wass this bitcoin stuff yo ?
Douce2: Ehum.. you can mine 'n stuff, and get test online.
Girl: *giggles*
Douce1: Like, srsly, bro - how can we get'em coins yo ?
Douce2: After I sell my tren and test next week, we can do a bitinstant deposit yo!
Girl: *licks her lips and giggles*
Douce1: Awesome bro,
Douce1 & Douce2: High fives and does the bro dance.

Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people I am 6'4" 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me. Probably never happen though you are probably just an internet tough guy. I doubt very seriously you would say that to someones face. Just my thought. What do you think. Oh I am sorry you probably do not have a brain. I on the other hand will be happy to buy you a plane ticket to come here and see if you have the nerve to say that to someone I know.

Lol I'm a Bodybuilding.com member and an early Bitcoin adopter, you know you can enjoy both without adopting either completely, don't understand why people need to play into the stereotype.

You can deal with Bitcoins while being a "shredded kunt m8"

of course, but the cross section of this site and bodybuilding.com isn't large. there's always an exception for every rule. In general the intellect of most tech minded bitcoiners far outweighs that of the general bodybuilding.com member, and likewise, the general amount of muscle on the average bodybuilder.com member probably outweighs the average amount of muscle on the members of this site. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive, but frankly one should not expect too much of the bodybuilding.com members in terms of intellectual capasity, even if you might be one of the odd cases out. But as for your last sentence, I'm not so sure anymore.

We're all the same. Just into different things.

Bodybuilder: how much you bench?

Bitcoin nerd: what's your hash rate?

This!
