This is a hypothetical thread (keyword is "would"). Vitalik has proven to wield much more power than the two subjects of the OP. Whether he "would" use that power for good or for bad is very much open to debate but there are plenty of ETH trollthreads out there already so maybe we should continue this elsewhere.
