there's an idea to start a bitcoin charity on indiegogo that needs some backers, it looks like an interesting idea.

charity is good and i don't do much but here when two newbies are discussing about a bitcoin charity then its quite strange but i see that site is pretty nice and the concept is good too. if 10people donate something then i will think about contributing something too

Looks good. But 250k is a lot to raise without a solid video, faces of the project, etc.

Yeah sorry, this is never going to get funded, 250k is just too much for something like this.
And since it's fixed funding, it needs to be fully funded to go through.

Plus, if they were serious about this project, I would think they would have gathered some supporters to back this from day 1.
Or at least backed it themselves with a reasonable amount.

Seems suspect to have a newbie post and another newbie upvote right after. There's been a lot of other charities that have used bitcoin as a platform, http://bitgivefoundation.org/ has been working in this space for awhile now.  Also, someone can run a indiegogo-style collection for a charity on Bitcoinstarter.com without having to spend $250k.

He also has no perks.  There are no incentives to donate more, other than promising you will feel a certain way.

Very lazy scam attempt.

I have very bad experience with Bitcoin powered Charities. You see, a real BTC charity is like a unicorn is is very hard to find.
And when you think you finally found one - it usually turn out that it is a normal horse painted white with fake glued horn.

There is nothing in that Indiegogo presentation that made me think it is real project created to help people.

There should be a organization that verify charities like these to make sure people are not scammed out of there money, thinking that it is going towards a good goal, and then it turns out to be a scam. The worst thing people can do, is to take donation for some charity and then to pocket those funds for themselves. ^sick^

I was thinking of trying to start a simple charity which shows people how easy faucets are and find people who would click for a charity of their choice.  But as with alot of things, it comes down to trust.

I have a cool domain name for one,   www.bitcoincures.com
