Getting started with XRP (willing to offer small amount of BTC for starting kit)

I am very interested in getting started with XRP asap, but it seems I was too late to the party. I would be willing to offer, say, 10 mBTC for the starting kit of 300 XRP to a well established member of the board to give some incentive for the transaction. Any other ideas about how to get started are welcome.

What about a loan? Someone loans you Y XRP and you return her/him Y+Z XRP after the agreed period of time. This would probably need to be just trust based.
