if you are interested in the technical side, watch this video. It explains it. Also I can assure, this is not a scam. If it were a scam then the hundreds of business and trading sites that formed around it would have never started. Likewise, the source code is openly available and can be verified by everyone. If this were a scam, then someone would have noticed in the code and made a big deal about it. That has never happened.

well that's interesting, but they should re-do the video with actual voice overs instead of robots

Not a scam, more like a social and economic experiment. Think of it this way: its a fiat system like any other. decentralized - no risk of government takedown. used by the tech savvy who want to remain anonymous and the criminal underground. the demand for the currency lies in its great cryptography systems and promise of anonymous, instant transactions. right now BTC and can be traded at over 100 sites for real goods. It is a successful social and economic experiment. people of the russian federation and china are very interested in this currency and have poured cash into it. all that is required to produce a successful fiat currency is demand for the currency-and that demand coincides with the demand for anonymous, instant monetary transactions. The incentive system to spread word about the currency is fantastic. early adapters want people to know about and use bitcoins so that demand for bitcoins increase and their bitcoins increase in value relative to other currencies. it is not a "Ponzi" scheme. the built in deflation is an incentive device for early adaption of the system.

Think of it more as a science project that has a chance to change the world.

Well said!
