I don't like Coindesk, theyw arew not anymore what they used to be at the beginning. To.many unreliable informations, ads, promotions and stuffq like this. They abandoned the quality and just went with the stream.

Coindesk is no different from any other news outlet out there, they are all in it for the money, they don't spend time and money curating stories because they care, just get over it. If for some reason they don't float your boat anymore just find yourself another site that does. They are all the same, it just a question of who can fool you best. Personally, any site that reports verifiable facts is good enough for me, it doesn't matter if those facts are padded with opinions or arbitrary comments, I can simply filter those out.

Coindesk is like the Tabloid of Bitcoin News. They publish almost everything about Bitcoin even if its unconfirmed and I heard some of the news that they publish came from Bitcointalk.org. They read feedbacks here and put them all together to create a story. They should hire someone from their research department.

coindesk is junk and has always been junk as far as I can tell. they do a very slick job but the content can't be trusted. considering the state of crypto news, mainly shit, there's gotta be a space for a respected source that manages to appeal to people. there are some glimmers out there but most of them seem to struggle and disappear.

I hope someone finds a good balance soon. then again it's almost impossible to find truth and objectivity in the coin projects themselves so how are you gonna find it in the news?

If coindesk is junk then why it have so much fame in bitcoin industry? specially when it comes about bitcoin price and price chart every one prefer to see coindesk's price chart.
I don't think it is totally junk. some time it gives lots of useful informations and news about bitcoin.. but the bad thing is they don't care about ads they publish and posts.

I seldom visit Coindesk as most of the information and news provided there can be found else where. Sometimes I find the content too unrealistic and too bias. Now with more coverage on ethereum, I find the site less and less relevant to bitcoin...
did coindesk promised or admitted that they only support and give news about bitcoin? I think no. this is not a way to accuse a site just because it is giving news about other cryto currency along with bitcoin

Their fame or popularity is not the right way to measure their credibility or what they are publishing is correct. They are into the business of publishing new about Bitcoin or whatever is under the sun about Bitcoin but the question is was it verified?

Forums like Bitcointalk.org is more educational in terms of getting news about Bitcoin rather than those sites.

CoinDesk used to be a good source of information & provided breaking news. Now it's just a paid shilling website, I mean look how much they cover ETH these days.
What's wrong with covering too much of "ETH" ? That is fine since they'r about Crypto-News,not only bitcoin specifically.Don't be surprised if Coinbase starts promoting ETH as well, which I guess its already happening.Such sources least bother about the currencies they're promoting, they're all about what works best for them to make that $$.You're wrong if you think the site is set-up to promote/help bitcoin users. That's just an excuse.See the advertisement bullcrap mentioned in the original post.

I was really baited by some article I found on the Coindesk. I am talking about  Balaji Srinivasan's prelection  "How To Get Bitcoin (Without Mining or Buying Bitcoin).
I was happy to click link to this material but after like 30 seconds of watching this video it stops and I was greeted by splash screen: "if you like this video give us your name, surname and email"

Link: https://coindesk.wistia.com/medias/p5nyjgbvln

How exactly newbie bitcoin user who seek safe methods of earning bitcoin might feel about this kind of 'promotion'?

Coindesk is one of my trusted website where I first read about the bitcoin news and seeing this kind of promotion sucks, I see that they also moderate their comments and people don't like this much. Last time was themerkle where I read an article about a malware wallet which was later removed, I think that coindesk needs money and want to profit by these paid articles.

Many people here commented that they need heavy advertisement so survive and pay their bills. And I agree, they profit from ads and that is fine.
But stopping interesting video with popup which asks for you FULL NAME and email - on a cryptocurrency related site is going overboard IMO.

It was not simple advertisement  or commercial, you can watch or skip, it is gathering personal information, plus they want to send you spam in the future.

Coindesk used to be the best bitcoin media for most bitcoiner, but now it's just another regular media which has too many advertising and i see some news/information which looks manipulated.
It's not bad website, but there's other website which is better than Coindesk.

I know conidesk for some years ago and they were my no1. site for bitcoin news. But it seems they followed the same road as cryptocoinsnews.com

Cryptocoinsnews.com don't give a bit about content, they only care about paid advertorials, which lead them to a decrease in visitors. This fate is also for CoinDesk.

If you want good independent news, go to twitter or google news.

I personally still like Coindesk (If we compare them to Cointelegraph who promote every scam out there , It should be pretty good) and I don't see them getting paid and placing ads for whoever pays the most without giving a shit about the service they are promoting.

Yeah, I also really like the Coindesk, for the coindesk provide the information I need in finding a reference on every coin in circulation now. They also give the display price of bitcoin client. So this is something that is profitable and likely COindesk will get the reward according from what it does
