Ive already messaged theymos with my actual email to get the ball rolling, but i want to get visibility on this issue.

please dont buy anything from my account (or the account itself) until this is resolved. Also, please dont leave additional negative trust feedback. some is already left and should discourage account buyers. i dont want anymore negative feedback left because itll just be a massive PITA to get undone once i regain account access and go back to my normal posting routine about mining and PCIe cable sales.

I can vouch for Klondike_bar's account having been hacked, and the klondike_bar_recovery account being legit (have his direct contact info from years ago).  Leaving neg trust on the hacked account for the time being, hope this gets resolved for him in a timely manner.

Account recovery takes time as its not on Theymos priority list unless its an account of importance. If things pans out, im sure he will help you recover it.

Uhh.. it's a 3 1/2 year old Legendary account that is also a well-known and frequent seller.  There are not a whole lot of accounts on here that are more important than that! These types of accounts should be the most time-sensitive in re: to recovery, as they are significantly more likely to successfully scam and defraud members here by PM or otherwise.

thanks for wording that so well. yes, i use the account frequently for hardware sales and really dont want the hacker to be selling it or using it to scam people.

how long can it possibly take to verify the PM i sent to theymos (which has my email, and a statement signed by an old (and still used) address of mine? on top of that, moderators seemingly have enough time to remove my "bump to the top" post from this thread, without actually doing anything to restore my account.

i appreciate it wont be instant - but some transparency of the process would be nice

It's not hard to remove bumps either but you don't do that. Believe me, it's annoying to have to waste your time removing dozens of bumps every day as well. Only admins can restore accounts not regular mods and there's plenty of other accounts that require restoring too. I know it's frustrating and account restoration is an issue that needs to be sorted and is something that we're currently discussing but you're going to have to have a little patience.

Theymos is too busy counting his pile of BTC to involve himself with lowly plebes like us.

He might be too busy but there are 2 other Admins. That can do something. No excuse for going months with this problem.

this is why i made the proposal of making account recovery automatic using a signed message from bitcoin address instead of Secret Question or Email Recovery options.

I feel your Pain I am in the same position, I sent my information back on 8/11 so just shy of almost a month. I know account issues like these have low priority but I have sent all required information and sent follow up pm's once a week along with making a thread like this one. I have also tried theymos BadBear and Cyrus copying all pervious information on to the next admin with no response. So I don't know what else to do.

Is anyone who's been hacked willing to share how it happened? I would've thought most people here would be more hack savvy than most. Sharing might stop it for others in future.

I don't know, I was told mine was probably from the last big hack on bitcointalk when the user accounts and passwords where stolen. Other than that I don't have a clue and all my other accounts outside bitcointalk are fine.

thats my assumption. i failed to update my password after that hack.

also, an admin has kindly begun to help me out and *presumably* reset my email correctly. however, when i try to reset my password, im not getting emails from bitcointalk (nor have i gotten any PM notifications as of late). I use hotmail and have checked inbox/junk folders as well as all other folders that it could have been filtered to and nothing. anyone else not getting site emails?

He supposedly got his account back, but has failed to sign a message proving it.

klondike has emailed me from a reliable email account, and looks like he has recovered it.  Waiting on signed message, should be coming any time.
