Is it still an active distro?  If not, is there anything else like it?

It went away.

Last I recall, the developer couldn't afford hosting...

Unable to afford hosting... Kinda crazy these days with all the file sharing business..

IIRR it was due to his disinterest in the project. Too bad... Would have been a great way to easily convert some of my boxes temporarily into mining boxes. BAMT, the other old Linux mining distro doesn't include Nvidia or CPUMining capabilites (nice to have options available, even if generally unwise)

so many early adopters lost interest, or sold out, way too soon.

that's too bad, a pre-made or even portable distro for bitcoin would be kinda great.

I wouldn't bother with linuxcoin when there is BAMT that does the job well.

Signature space available for rent.
