RX 470
http://videocardz.com/62642/amd-radeon-rx-470-to-launch-on-august-4th-rx-460-on-july-28th

Another page mentioning August 4th. And speculation about 8gb AIB's with faster speeds and more OC headroom than the RX480.... possibly faster and more efficient than a 480 for mining?
http://videocardz.com/62672/amd-radeon-rx-470-and-radeon-rx-460-official-specs-and-performance

There are already leaks of the Saphire RX470 so it is possible the custom 470's won't take too long to arrive.

------

RX 480's, and they all use 8 pin connectors

The 470 won't be good for ETH mining probably because of the low memory clock speed.

I read some speculation that if there are aftermarket 8GB versions, those would have higher memory clocks. Somewhere I read that the 470 should overclock more easily than the 480 for some sort of technical reason. If both of these happen and are true than some 8gb 470's could achieve what the 480 hashes.

Even if the 470 is weaker which is natural, it still draws less power and cost less to purchase.

In the specs the memoryclock is like 1650mhz, while the 480 is 2000mhz. Most of the speed is related to the memory.

However they come out next week so we will see how they actually perform.

yeah, so they basically added 50-60 bucks to the supposed reference price.
it would be interesting to see what is better economically: reference 480, aftermarket 480 or 470.
470 starts with a lower core speed, but, apparently, should be easily overclocked as others pointed out.
$150 for 20-21mh/110W is better than $280 for 28 mh/150-170w.
we shall see

the most annoying part is that they don't have stock, so you cannot just get one of each to try, then get more.

Grab the bios from reference, force flash, the extra cost worth the better cooling solution? I don't know.

And it resolves the power overdraw from PCIe with an 8 pin power connector which is automatically a better option for those who are no using workbenches with PCIe risers but are instead just getting into this starting with 2 cards on their main PC.

I do not know what a reference model bios will do to the custom 480's
