None of my mobile android applications work! Bitcoin ticker, Bitcoinium and even official MtGOX client.

What's going on there? Coinlab issues?

I don't care about online services. All my android apps based on mtgox APIs do not work anymore.

Even official MtGOX client.

Stream moved to data.mtgox.com, so a lot of apps don't work now until their dev's compiled a new version.

Yeah, the android app doesn't work since Thursday/Friday.
MTG might reach 80-90 Million Dollars in trading volume for this month and an official app can be down for days? lol? I don't get it.

80M USD turnover is a $640.000 USD daily comissions.

Is it not enough to get rid of LAG "feature", dead sockets and stable working API?

Did they warned users about moving API to different place?

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT JAPANEESE BUSINESS??

I have been messaging their support about this.  This is a serious failure on their part, and I hope they make a public apology.  http://classic.mtgox.com is broken (trade data APIs down too), their official Android app is broken (APIs all broken too), and most other 3rd party apps/utilities as well.  Once again, we have a big market crash due to a Mt. Gox debacle.  Hopefully we'll have better exchanges rise up that can really compete with Mt. Gox, and force them to be more professional.  Here's a giant letter I wrote to their support person, Gene, who had no idea that the http://classic.mtgox.com site was even broken in the first place.  I also asked if he could forward my message to Mark Karpeles due to the seriousness of this issue, but he can't seem to understand...

I cannot log into my Mt. Gox Mobile 3.2 Android app

I have been using my Mt. Gox Mobile 3.2 Android app (http://mtgoxlive.com/mobile/) for the past couple of years for the most part without any problems, and today, I receive an error message saying, "Error: Invalid request method for this API". Please fix this ASAP, since I rely on my Android Mt. Gox mobile app for most of my trading.

Hello,

Thank you for the email. Please note that we are facing some comparability issues with the current mobile version and we are working on a newer version. We will keep you updated through an announcement.

Thanks,

Do you know how soon this will be fixed? I think there are other problems due to this API issue as well. http://classic.mtgox.com is broken too.

Hello zhalox,

We are now working on the new version and the old version will be unusable until the new version is released. In the meantime, we request you to use our mobile website if you want to access it from your phone at https://m.mtgox.com.The site http://classic.mtgox.com is not broken,we request you to try using a different browser, you can try via chrome or firefox.

Thanks,

MtGox.com Team

Gene,

Actually, I have been using Chrome to access the site http://classic.mtgox.com for the past couple of years, and it is in fact broken. Here is some of the proof of one of the various areas that it is broken - simply visit https://classic.mtgox.com/trade/history and select "Past 24 hours", "Close Depth", or "Market Depth (rounded)", and the page will display the message "This API is not available directly anymore, please replace mtgox.com with data.mtgox.com in the url".

This seems to explain why http://classic.mtgox.com just stopped working within the last couple of days. Another example of how the classic website is broken is on the "Trade" page when a user is logged in to their account. The price and trade information no longer shows in the yellow bar on top, and the "Lowest Ask Price" and "Highest Bid Price" just say "Loading..." instead of displaying the price like they used to (since the code likely references the old APIs). Also, within the top yellow bar it says, "Sorry, you must have Javascript enabled to use Mt. Gox" even though it is enabled, and fails to display the market data. I have been using Chrome with Mt. Gox's classic site for 2 years without problems until a couple of days ago when it suddenly stopped working.

Please fix these problems ASAP. Since the Mt. Gox mobile app is broken too, this is now the only way I trade on my smartphone (aside from http://m.mtgox.com which I do not prefer to use). It is very unprofessional to have half of your trading products stop working all at once (since the Mt. Gox mobile Android app also suddenly stopped working because of the API changes).

This is obviously a bug on Mt. Gox's end, because your developers carelessly chose to remove the old APIs and replace them with the new ones (mtgox.com --> data.mtgox.com) without first updating the code in your classic website & Android apps. This is very unprofessional for Mt. Gox to treat its users like this. It would have much better for Mt. Gox to have a transition period & possibly allow both versions of the APIs until you updated the code on all your products. This has also affected other products, and it would have been better to make an announcement on your website regarding API changes with plenty of time in advance, so developers of third party applications can have time to make changes during the transition period.

Please keep these important suggestions in mind in the future so that you do not lose credibility with your customers due to careless management/development decisions. My intention is not to be rude, but to provide constructive criticism, and help Mt. Gox improve their business practices.

I also ask that you please forward this message to Mark Karpeles so I can confirm that Mt. Gox will be more careful to make sure that something bad like this will not happen in the future. Thank you.

Best regards,
zhalox

Gene,

When you say that the developers are working on the "new website" does this refer to an updated version of the http://classic.mtgox.com site, or does it refer to the main/default site? When you say "we will be taking down the old website" does that mean that http://classic.mtgox.com will be gone completely, or does it mean that you are updating the APIs for it so that the classic site is functional again? I hope that the developers do not remove the classic site completely. I prefer using the classic site for trading instead of the main website.

Also, can you confirm that you have forwarded my above message to Mark Karpeles, and that he has read it? Thank you.

Best regards,
zhalox

Hello zhalox,

Our developers are working on the http://classic.mtgox.com and not the main site and the new website will have the updates where you can view the market depth via the new website which will contain all the details as in http://classic.mtgox.com ,when the site is ready the old site will be taken down.

Thanks,

MtGox.com Team

Gene,

Thanks for the update. Also, as I asked you in my previous message, can you please confirm that you have forwarded my longer message to Mark Karpeles, and that he has read it? I would appreciate if you could pass those suggestions along to him, so that Mt. Gox can avoid these kinds of problems again.

Thanks,
zhalox

Oh, they even don't give a fuck. Great.

API changed, all bots and professional automation software are out of game (as new api need serious test to avoid surprises). Without any warning. As well as phone apps and classic interface.

So traders oppinion is just an empty pixel in their internal world of development process.

Without any warning.

I don't know if they provided warning to their customers (as I'm not one) via their website or not.

But there was this.

Why did they put this anywhere except their news?

Why they didn't put this on some mothercare baby forums? Or probably some forum of real estate agents?

This is madness.

I am a trader. I have email in profile. Obviously if I have API keys, I am HIGHLY interested to know about such changes first.

And instead of notifying me via email I get this situation:

- My phone apps broken
- Classic broken
- I suddenly discover my automation software isn't working (IN ITS WORK PROGRESS)
- I search their website and nothing about it there
- I ask on forums and got a link on some topic where Tux notifying users who read this subforum about fundamental API Changes.

Gentlemen, WHAT THE FUCK?!

It's a money processing service. Big fucking money processing. Such processor behavior is Asolutely/Definately/Really/Surely NOT ACCEPTABLE.

They use their liquidity monopoly to be just more negligent. We dont have a choice, as there are no more place with enough liquidity. Otherwise I used to be already there forgetting about Gox as just about nightmare.

Maybe they are doing it on purpose, driving price down with a broken suggested price.

I agree, they can't just post in some obscure forum about these sorts of things, they need to make an announcement on their website via email.  Communication is VERY important.  They should create an email list where you can subscribe to updates like this (press releases, announcements, etc.).  However, their failure to update their own products' APIs or at least provide a fail-safe (Mt. Gox mobile Android app, http://classic.mtgox.com) is COMPLETELY unacceptable.

Obviously, many of us are very frustrated about this lack of professionalism from Mt. Gox.  We've been "GOXED" yet again  Undecided

MagicalTux/Mark cannot simply post in an obscure forum and expect the thousands of Mt. Gox users to automatically know that half of their trading products will stop working.  Mt. Gox should at least ensure that all of their own products are updated for the new APIs before forcing a change like this.  If anything, Mark should have Mt. Gox make a public announcement addressing this issue.  Mt. Gox processes a LOT of funds, and needs to learn from this mistake and improve their operations in the future, or things could get much worse for the Bitcoin economy.

I have not had any drama with gox apart from the lag and connectivity. I am truly amazed that they have left the mobile apps broken for so long and same with the lag drama. They have the potential to take their business to the sky but I wonder how many big fish are not coming to play because of this.

Its not like there is a shortage of people in the community to fix their problems.

Bring on competition, Trade Hill 2 maybe they will get enough momentum.

Edit to add: Plus the communication in general sucks big time when folks have so much invested through them.
