Yes, in fact your signature is the only place you may put a referal link[1]. A shortened link might get removed or replace by the forum.

[1] thats not entirely true, there are some other rare exceptions, but for simplicity it should do.

You can use shortened link but I'm not sure if you are allowed to use paid shortened link or shortened link that may redirect to an ad.
You can use referral. that's mainl the purpose of the signature space.

Signature restrictions

There are restrictions on signatures, based on your activity/rank.

I think that you need member, but don't quote me on that. Also, you need 60 activity to get to rank: member but you only get 14 activity every 2 weeks or  approximately 10 weeks.

i think shortened link that not directly to site is not accepted or the shortener you use is not a legit site.
try using google shortener for your referral. or just use your referral link.
