I suspected at the time of the DAO hack btc whales were behind it, and now I suspect the same are pumping ETC so they can make a fortune dumping all those stolen coins. I could be wrong though, it could be a much larger conspiracy involving ETH whales - anything is possible in crypto. The only thing that seems pretty clear to me now is buying ETC is playing russian roulette - the sledgehammer could fall anytime.

Wait, I'm pretty sure the fork (ETH) is identical to ETC except that the (rightfully) stolen DAO funds were returned. The fork wasn't because of the ETH code, but because those who have a vested interest in ETH and the DAO wanted their money back, so pushed the fork through with a minority vote. So basically, the bugs that ETH had (ETC now) ETH now also has. Please post some sources if I am wrong about this.

I wish I had a crystal ball...I would love to know how this mess unfolds. Funny thing is, most people writing in are either trying to pump ETC or dis it and discredit it but its still here. I agree it is totally risky to go all in! No one knows if the hammer will fall or it will take off. And everyone one seems to justify it one way or the other.

Honestly I think it being a conspiracy is a bit far-fetched, it's one thing to hack the DAO and short ETH but to assume the dominos would fall toward a hard fork and an exchange like poloniex having the radical idea to list the pre-fork chain as an asset and then plan to pump that, it all sounds too convoluted.  I think Occam's razor suggest it's a black swan event, nothing more.

If there were not whales invested in the DAO they would have never done a fork to save the modest investor. You are in denial. No. There are no "whales" buying ETC. There is support in the original Ethereum classic from the who's who of bitcoin but it is only up to the extent that they support immutability. The people that are buying ETC are the same people who are trading ETH. They are using ETC as a safety net.

You can support ETC without agreeing with the actions of the thief. Forking your block chain to bailout investors is just as, if not more, unethetical than theft.

If I put millions in an uninsured bank that got robbed I wouldn't expect the government to print dollar2.0 to foil the thief. I would kick myself in the ass for being an idiot.
