A really great video to understand the situation here. This guy knows what's up and has been around for ages in the bitcoin game. Also in addition, check this podcast by World Crypto Network on the subject too:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUMI_Sqw1ps

Those guys give the right analysis. Stay away from paid shills like David Seaman and listen to Chris Ellis and the guys on that podcast.
History in the making my friends, this is the most exciting thing in crypto since Bitcoin itself.

Great find. I like how he goes into detail by looking at the FACTS as writen in the documents of the DAO, as well as the tweets of developers claiming that code is indeed law.

ETH is finished. They have betrayed all what they stood for. ETC is the only hope for Ethereum.

Sad to see how humans reject objective facts when they are financially invested. Too bad the market will eventually crush them.

Yup I have to agree about history in the making when the DAO attacker dumps his >10% ETC criminal coin bag.

Oh no, let's hard fork Bitcoin because someone stole a shitton of coins in Mt Gox

fail to see how anything would win from that mess.

i certainly agree with ellis that "your system has to be better then their system" and none of the latest 2.0 or whatever you call them systems are better then bitcoin (and I'm not really a fan of bitcoin in its current state, which isn't itself, if you're complete honest, better then the system its trying to replace/run parallel too).

(all that's lost on the 'in it for fiat' crypto crowd though)

Yes, Vitalik and his team will be programming for ETC. Any work produced by them can and will be applied to ETC so long as it isn't code that censors transactions (ETC's primary criticism of ETH). Tone Vays explained this in the video by Chris Ellis posted above.  This is a major reason why it is likely ETC will stay around and may potentially grow much bigger than it is today.  The development team is ETH; it is not a rudderless ship as many claim.

That would really be bad for Vitalik and the Ethereum foundation. All their work and their ideas will automatically added to the competitor and there is nothing they can do about it. What would happen if the developers abandon Vitalik and the foundation and develop directly in the original chain? Will that kill the fork?

You did not get it the point. The point is even if Vitalik does not support the original chain anymore all their developments in the fork can and will be parasitically transferred in the original Ethereum classic.

Many people will not support the ETC as it is a hack coin chain. Many people will dump their coin in the future.

It might not be a hack coin but getting DAPPs to use it will be the tough part.

Support will come with time. Exchanges already support it. Give it time, and dapps and other development will come.

"most people"

If that was the case then "most people" would have bothered to vote, but only a small % of people voted in the disastrous hard fork. Now a coin with higher trading volume than ETH is born and has existed and will exist for a long term. Let's remember what idiots like Brian Armstrong where saying about how great the ETH hardfork bailout was:

Vitalik the central banker:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4oif2x/dao_attack_exchanges_please_pause_eth_and_dao/

The whole thing was a failure. Let's hope ETC wins or Ethereum will be another shitcoin.
