Very generous of you. I've been trading copper, and a some silver, since gold has become a rich man's game. Base metals like copper are going up in value as the dollar (and fiat currencies in general) continue to fail. The fed can't just throw some zeros into a computer and make metals, like they do with fiat currency.  Roll Eyes

i'll take a shot at this.

my father is a silver collector, and i wish to collect half as much information as he has about. it is always interesting to hear him talk about the history and significance of the coins, not to mention it will be a great safety net in case the dollar fails. i hope to tell my children about silver coins someday.

Silver and gold have always been, and will always be real money.  It doesn't matter if it's the ancient Egyptians, Americans in 2013, or a thousand years from now; precious metals will always be a sought after store of wealth.

Like others have said, Silver is an extremely important thing as it has a limited supply and therefore relatively stable price. While we may measure BTC against USD because USD seems stable, it really isn't as it has no set value in goods apart from what people decide that it is worth. BTC to silver would be better as silver has a stable price between currencies around the world

I want to give away 5 silver Canadian quarters.

If you want a free silver quarter just post here saying why silver is important to you in the future. In a week I will choose 5 people and send them their quarter.

I am doing this because I want to promote silver awareness and start people off on their stacks.

Back in the day (thinking 1960s and 1970s) 4 silver 90% Halves bought a tank of gas. Today, 4 silver 90% Halves buys a tank of gas. Additionally, unlike gold, silver is used in industry for electrical conductivity. Hence silver demand not only comes from consumers, but also business that require the metal for their own products and services. Silver is also antimicrobial, which is the reason it was and still is used for flatware, cups, and dinnerware.

I collect Morgan Dollars, and own many many other US silver coins, as well as international silver coinage. My kids love it and it has been a tool to teach them about money, as well as the intrinsic value of real coinage that still has value.

Whomever gets one of those silver quarters should appreciate the real value of what they have in their possession. Watch the science channel learn how the silver that they hold in their hand was one of many byproducts or a star going supernova.

For those who do not have silver, check it out. Don't buy into the Monex and commodity hype, as it is important to understand why silver can and always will be a precious commodity.

For some reason a couple of the packages were returned to me. I don't know why. I would send them again but the cost of postage is quickly outstripping the cost of the quarters.

I am going to figure out why they were returned to me and then try this again later.

Best way to get into silver is to find a reputable local coin shop and visit it weekly.  By one American Silver Eagle each week, and by the end of the year you'll have 50+ oz. of silver, and (hopefully) you will have established a reputation as a good and knowledgeable customer.  This will most likely pay off in the long run!   Wink
