And you?

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.

So 100% loss is better than 30% loss? I like the way you think

No. Bitcoin was actually headed there for a flash crash. Too many longs.

No. Bitcoin was actually headed there for a flash crash. Too many longs.

Didn't exchange in there but this theft is causing the price crash, so indirectly I've lost a lot too.

The question now is how low can this go, because surely these stolen btcs will continously be fed into the market.

I'm sorry for everyone who lost their funds in BitFinex. You do not deserve this and the owners of the exchange must be investigated. I have a gut feeling this is another inside job. This could Gox happening again.

I know people(not only one) who lost millions with BTX even I told them to stay away of this shaddy exchangers. I warned about it here, on this thread too as I warn about BTC-e(the next target).

Yes, millions of USD not thousands of usd or hundred thousands of usd. So, the losses are BIG.

Easy come easy go...

How much have you lost there?

Since it was Bitcoin that was stolen and not USD, I am kind of hoping and praying that I have lost fuck all. I had zero Bitcoin on Finex (cos I only hold Bitcoin if I am in a trade, cos I don't believe in Bitcoin), but do (or did) have several thousand USD. If I am not mistaken, No USD were stolen from Finex, and no accounts were hacked whereby USD was converted to BTC, and then withdrawn.

After having my Kraken account emptied, my intention always was to get everything out of Bitcoin, for good....but for some strange fucking reason, I only went and left my mobile phone somewhere, so I couldn't authenticate withdrawal with 2FA, then when I got my mobile back...I just didn't trust the market to convert USD to BTC and then withdraw.

How do people know for sure (other than fearing the worst), that they have been robbed on Finex? Are the thefts visible on the blockchain as withdrawals from personal wallet addresses on Bitfinex?

Kraken Account, Robbed/Emptied. Kraken say "Fuck you, its your loss": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559553.msg15656643#msg15656643

Bitfinex victims. DO NOT TOUCH THE BFX TOKEN! Start moving it around, or trading it, and you will be construed as having accepted it as an alternative means of payment to your USD, BTC, etc.

The thefts are visible on the blockchain, yes. Since last summer, you may have noticed you have 3 multi-signature addresses assigned to your account. If you kept BTC in, say, the exchange wallet, Bitfinex/BitGo would move those BTC to your exchange wallet address. We have widespread confirmation from watching these addresses that massive amounts of bitcoin were drained from them on the early morning of August 2.
