You won't be abled before you reach the Junior Member rank.

is there a better area to test posts?
Try the "Preview" button, that way, you don't have to create public threads for your private testing.

You can't post an image yet as a newbie.
Additionally, the image link you posted will not work. You shoul get the .jpg bbcode of the image if you will post it in forums.
In the meantime, you can ask someone to quote your post if yo want your photo to show.

be careful hotlinking to images.  it is something that i generally only do in my own threads.  you will be able to do this soon enough if you stay with posting.  watch for sizes and content.  it can be a real pain when someone posts a huge image in the middle of an ongoing conversation.  Also, bear in mind that when you hotlink, you are showing the content that someone else controls.  we used to work with a company that would fills pages with those stupid cat meme's and leave them for months, sharing them sometimes on their social profiles.  after some time, when the traffic on the pics was quite high, they would switch the images with ads for affiliate programs they were in.  as long as the filename and location stayed the same, the image would display as the new image.

that was pretty harmless, but an evil person could put up pics of Dora or some kids thing and then switch in porn pics later on, just for kicks.  Some kids profile avatar on a kids social site could go from Dora the Explorer to "Dora the DEEP Explorer" in seconds.
