i dont think so.
however in asia the concentration and popularity of bitcoin is much higher, so while there are more bitcoin businesses the same low "scammer"rate that happens across the world equates to more in asia simply due to the higher popularity (while remaining low scammer:moral ratio)
for instance america has had butterfly labs, trendon shavers BS&T, bitcoinica, cryptsy and a load of cloud hashing companies.... to name just a few
europe has had GLBSE, intersango, mintpal, etc
my point being.. if there are 300 people in america and 6 of them are bitcoin scammers if there are 1200 people in asia and there 12 of them are bitcoin scammers.. it does not mean there are more scammers in asia.. because asia has a 1% scam rating and america has a 2% scam rating..

You say that, but you offer no proof other than to list some companies that operate from that area. It is like saying, people in Paris eat more bread than other countries. You will have to be more specific than that to quantify that statement. Do you think that it has something to do with the lack of governance or poor regulation?
Let's discuss this, because most western countries point fingers at these people, and most of the times, they are wrong.

GBL-BTC HKcex MyCoin Bitfinex (what do you think?) ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) That last one Bitfinex, there is some nasty story going on with them. They are saying that they got their funds stolen or hacked but knowing from history any exchange when want to go down like Mt.gox, Cryptsy they always say the same , we have been hacked. Now the website doesn't load and all operations are halted, let's see what happens next.

hi guy, I appreciate your analysis, but I think this view from the perspective of population density, unreliable many companies are not local native, but have you ever thought why they invariably choose located in HongKong?

hi guy, I appreciate your analysis, but I think this view from the perspective of population density, unreliable many companies are not local native, but have you ever thought why they invariably choose located in HongKong? other scams other countries too i have seen dummy companie set up in BV islands, bermuda, mexico, europe.. so its not just asia but.. in some ways china has shown a higher amount of numbers of scammers using asian addresses while serving american customers.. maybe its the belief that most americans dont speak asian and so wont risk the language barrier, strange country and travel costs to see if the business is legit by visiting the location (to realise its just a drop box) take cryptsy for instance.. the owner lives in florida but even after knowing cryptsy was going to fail.. he went about setting up a new exchange "remotely" (falsely) located in china ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcoinjournal.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2016%2F04%2FCryptsy-owns-bitebi9-com-1.jpg&t=664&c=s8o7CUINONFQww) marshal long (final hash cloudmining scammer) is also reportedly in china.. yet physically not there.. so im not racist to say asia is scam central.. i still think american people have a higher probability to be scammers.. the only thing i see is that scammers have the mindset of "dont shit in your own back yard" so set up dummy companies in other countries while never actually going there.. basically shitting in their own back yard and then throwing it over the fence to shift the blame

Hmmmzz, I think this is not something a good thing to save a company into bitcoin is located in Hong Kong, as seen from a variety of things that always happen in Hong Kong (account hacking BTC) it makes me think that Hong Kong is a place for the hackers assemble and surely they already know all the code resides in the security system of Hong Kong. I look forward to future businesses in Hong Kong can always update the latest security so that events are now not happen again in the future

it's very simple to know whether an exchanger based in HK is scam or not. They must be licensed.
HK(China) laws require a financial license if you exchange or make forex(tradings) that involve a commodity or currencies/e-currencies.
Bitfinex and most of other exchangers do not have one so they are...illegal.

I don't think so, although the scam site is giving the original details and information about them, I'm not sure the people getting scammer will chasing the scammer until in their real region. giving or hiding the original information is not giving any effect for the scammer. they know about the cryptocurrency is not regulated by average government in this time and it's become a one more chance for scammer.
