Ok so im fresh at this bitcoin idea. Got a guy to walk me through downloading what I needed, signed up to a pool and got everything I needed. However now I am stuck at the very last stage because when ever I run GUIMiner (latest version) I receive an error message saying No OpenCL devices found.

I am running a HIS HD 5870 with the latest 11.5 drivers and ATI Stream SDK installed.

Anyone else having this problem? Have tried complete uninstalls/reinstalls. Still no change.

System Info:

AMD 9950 BE 2.6 Quad Core (running at 3.0)
HIS HD 5870 - latest drivers
Windows xp 32bit sp2

Thanks for the help.

Hey guys, I don't know how to solve this in Windows...  I have a few 5850s/30s.  They wouldn't work on a fresh Windows XP (sp2) install, even when I downloaded all the catalyst whatnots.  I couldn't even get ubuntu to boot on this particular motherboard either.  So I used Linuxcoin, the linux made for bitcoin mining and booting off a USB stick.  I use that on the computer and it's actually very very easy to start mining.  And since my computer crashes or the power goes out often, I set it up a lot.  (You can do a persistent usb stick but I couldn't get it to work.)

I have a 5830 running very smoothly in Windows 7 now.  Just had to download the catalyst drivers.  So I would recommend getting LinuxCoin if these are dedicated miners.  If not, try linux, though I really dislike the new ubuntu.

LinuxCoin:

And on page 5, there's the command lines you need.  Ask if you need help.

EXACT same issue here.  Windows XP SP2, ATI 5770 vid card.  Latest Catalyst drivers, installed ATI Stream and all accompanying files.  Still "No OpenCL support" with GuiMiner

Edit- May have at least partially solved the issue.  By rolling back to driver version 10.6 and ATI Stream version 2.1 I now have access to the card in OpenCL.  The card shows up as "Juniper" but I believe that is the accurate name of the chipset.

Averaging 176 M/Hash with this software setup and the -v -256 tags.  No clock changes of yet.  Will OC later.

Another Edit- Seem to get better results at -128.  Clocked at 925mhz Core and 600mhz Memory (MSI Afterburner wouldnt go lower)

Clocking core to 960mzh seemed to make little to no difference over 925 (Afterburner would not go higher)..
Raising memory clocks made little difference.

Solution!  Service Pack 3.

Hey, I came across this problem again and was helped out on another thread.  Having service pack 3 solved the No OpenCL Devices Found problem.  I also needed .NET 2.0 (for catalyst) and python 3.2 for guiminer (solved the Application couldn't start, incorrect application information problem with guiminer).  (And I've done this from a scratch a few times so I'm fairly sure those are the minimum requirements on top of the catalyst drivers)

Just to clarify, my solution (posted above) works just fine on Service Pack 2.
