Since Bitcoin started being traded at Mt Gox it has increased by an average of 6.8% per week. Based on that the exchange rate should be around $300 by the end of the year.

Since the beginning of 2013 the exchange rate has increased by an average of 15.4% per week. Based on that the exchange rate should be around $12000 by the end of the year.

My guess is somewhere in between those two numbers.

Edit: It helps to look at the right line on the spreadsheet.

For it to reach $1,000/BTC a year from today it would have to go up over 1300%!!!

It has not done that since...hmm...what is $75 divided by $4 (price this time last year) * 100%?

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

Although possible, I do not think we will hit $1000 this year. And I'm one of the biggest bulls here.
I do think that U$S300-U$S500 is very possible.
I believe the rate of speculators will decrease overtime and the coin will start to get used more and more as a trading currency.

I don't either, I was just pointing out the math was wrong. I've corrected 2 or 3 people on percent increase mistakes. Ironically, they're also all bulls dumping money into a speculative bubble. Perhaps based on bad math? Go figure.

I know, even I'm not that optimistic. But I expected Proudhon to give 1 BTC anyway, so I speculated it Grin Grin Grin Grin

Well if I were to buy something today, the service provider would get shafted if the value crashed. So that's a two way street.

Anything is possible, you're definitely right, but I don't think that's likely. I think I saw it would take $3.2M in new capital to get to ~$220/BTC. I don't see that happening anytime soon, and once the new money dries up, all the speculators will get bored with holding what they can't spend, see a slow (if they're lucky) descent to more reasoned pricing, and jump on the sell bandwagon.

I'm a long term bull (defined as probably 5 years*), but short term I'm bearish for obvious reasons I guess.

* A major collapse would change this, possibly destroying BTC in the process.

I agree that 1k is not likely but... Well, who knows what shenanigans governments will get up to next. They're out of money and can't print their way out of more. What happens when they start plundering retirement funds?

Sign me up for $1,000 USD by the end of the year. I think that's an easy figure.

There are an endless list of folks who will/are buying big time - including all the rich Silicon Valley lot who can see the potential and are now developing apps etc.

How about more like $5,000?

We have gone from 33 to 140 in 30 days.  if we increase at that rate for 12 months it will be at over 1200 in 12 months time. but I think it will happen sooner.

With the recent screwps.. Cyprus, Chase bank, etc. and so many new adopters, it looks like we will cross 1000 this year, a couple of years too soon in my opinion.. And im not complaining Cheesy

I see USD 100K per BTC in 2023.

My past self was a real shit sometimes.  Give me some time, I only have ~0.75 in an online wallet.  The rest is offline, and I'm at work.  Might just buy ~$300 more so I don't have to dip into the offline wallets, unless somebody wants to chip in Wink

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.
