I think that it was just a free DDoSer services test. They will back soon, when attackers will be paid for the real attack. So, switching to solo or p2pool is recommended as soon as possible, for the next few days.

At the risk of stating the obvious peer2peer is inherently DDOS resistant. The problem is mining pools. Solo mine or use p2pool and you don't have to spend a second worrying about DDOS attacks. Or configure a failover to p2pool or solo mining if you must use a mining pool. |

DDOS protection costs a lot. Only biggest BTC pools can afford it. |
