Maybe BurtW could buy some of his own coins back that the US government stole from him.

Has this just been announced because they have picked a bad time to sell with the price down like it is.

Build a client base, post original and interesting content, when u have viewers, then try to get ads. this way, people will just go crazy with so many ads. good luck.

well too many ads will potentially give bad experience of reading for reader and will only result they won't get back at the end so beware with ads, even you're using google ads,the traffic will still decreasing even a little bit compared when the blog still ads-free

that's the way government earn many profit by seizing thing which they said it's an obvious illegal

yes it's true that USA have plans to auction over 2,700 bitcoins http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-bitcoin-idUSKCN10J1JP
and i think this is will have bad impact for bitcoin prices and bitcoiners because the prices will be difficult to rise up from this auction

You spam your referral filled blog everywhere.

three things:
1) don't visit every crappy link you see on the internet especially a free blog if you don't like it.
2) use ad block you can use uBlock origin which is free and for firefox and chrome as an extension.
3) this auction like many other much bigger auctions before it has no effect on anything about bitcoin whatsoever except the hype these sites create.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

This looks to be a nice way to go, considering USA will auction bitcoins, something that all considered ilegal. Soo this may change position of some countries, and looks like they are suppporting bitcoin, even being this way, look just the value of the coins.

http://satoshibonus.blogspot.com/2016/08/us-is-goin-to-auction-bitcoin.html

These are the bitcoins that are recovered from different cases / claims / investigations
On the other hand Government is not sure about Bitcoin as currency how will they handle the amount ?

Is anyone here going to participate in that auction? Grin

Is the auction open for non-US residents? If yes,i want to participate and bid.

Maybe this will have some impact over btc price?

I'm about 90% sure they're auctioning it off in large amounts that are out of all of our reach, and only the largest investors are going to get in on this and actually be able to bid. And I'm also fairly sure that it is restricted to US residents, or people that they've invited to take a spot in the auction. I don't think they'd auction of to some foreign entity.

Yea, that is what they did with the previous auctions.. they broke it up into smaller chunks and sold them in bundles. This way more investors will get in on the actions and they can get better prices

for the coins. If they auctioned off all coins in one batch, only a few people will be able to participate and no bid wars can push up the price. I am just glad these coins are going to come back in to

circulation. Let's just hope the buyers hoard these coins for a while.  Roll Eyes

US Marshals auctioned Bitcoins few times already. Actually even much bigger amounts, so it should not surprise anybody. Maybe this is perception of some people, but there is nothing illegal to use Bitcoin, the same way it is not illegal to use cash. But in some cases it might get you in trouble, whether it is cash or Bitcoin.

Another auction, this time in one block only. I assume the "usual suspects" will bid.

Even CNN & BBC news websites are filled with advertisements  Wink

That's not the point.

Maybe BurtW could buy some of his own coins back that the US government stole from him.

Has this just been announced because they have picked a bad time to sell with the price down like it is.

He actually can, which surprised me, but since all charges on him and the coins were dropped, he can. He won't do it as this is being sold in one block only...

I don't think the government cares about the price.

Is anyone here going to participate in that auction? Grin

Is the auction open for non-US residents? If yes,i want to participate and bid.

I don't recall seeing restrictions to non-US residents. The only restriction is you can only pay for the coins via a wire from a US bank.

If this is anything like other auctions it will have little to no effect on price. And auctions are not a novelty anymore, so...

I saw this news on thenextweb and was a bit curious how this auction will end, can anyone participate on this auction for example bidding only for 1 bitcoin or the bidders should bid for the entire amount of bitcoin? I'm afraid that the price will get lower because of this auction
