Hi all,

Windows 10 1607 + driver 369.09 on my 1070:

I have not play with all command but it work fine.

My setup on Genoil :
ethminer -F http://eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:80/0x33459A3104b1adFeE38C2a4b0446d1e3a72C88Fb/rig1/ -U --cuda-grid-size 8192 --cuda-block-size 128 --farm-recheck 200 --cuda-streams 4

See you

yeah and you can tweak it to the unbelievable level of 80-90w for 30MH, just decrease the core and the power limit and increase the mem

no other card can match this result at the moment, i'm still laughing at those saying that 1070 was trash in etheruem...

If only a 1070 didn't cost more than the price of a couple of 970, I would have surely took one, except if you, Amph, can advise me to take a 1070 instead of the couple of 970 I'm planning to buy.

i personally don't like living in the past when it come to IT or HW in general, the only reson to buy a 970 would be if your budget is low and your electricity is very very cheap

otherwise we are talking about 30MH at 80-90w against 44MH at 300w

Me, that's the inverse, I tend to prefer old tech for its finished improvements and its low price. I really don't care of Ethereum, this is just a backup option. On other algorithms, is the level consumption gap so big ? I doubt about it. Also, two 970 surely craft more coins daily than a single 1070.

The GTX 970 hashes 20 tops right?

Well 2 GTX 1070's will nearly match 3 970's at much less power draw, slots occupied, and not that far off on price in the end.

on other coins the 1070 is even better than a 970, a 970 can barely do 150MH on lybry, for 300w or more a single 1070 can do almost 300MH with half the wattage...

Yeah, for LBRY, that you seem to like pretty much, the gap is wide, but for something like Groestl, Neoscrypt or LyraRE2V2, can the fact that a 1070 is more than 2x more expensive compensate the gain in hashrate and the reduction in power consumption ? Also, can the 1060, given that's there only about 60$ of difference from a 970 and better performances, be the best compromise ?

lyra2v2 is the same 22MH for a 970, 40MH for a 1070, i don't know at the moment about groestl, for neos is different, 750 against 1000, i suspect there can be improvement there, from drivers side, because on linux a 1070 can do 1200KH

1060 seems worse than expected, it's not scaling well with the 1070, on most algo

Well. Depends how long you plan to mine for. With that said, you will have a much easier time selling a GTX 1060 in a few years than you would a GTX 970. A GTX 1060 should be easier to sell at 3 years of age than a 970 would be at 3 years of age. This generation really stepped up over the usual. If you was buying a GPU for a budget build would you choose a GTX 470 or a GTX 660?

Also if mining difficulty rises up, you may not even consider a GTX 970 even worth using. In the long haul of mining and for the sake of selling the hardware, this gen is the way to go. Other years I would have reasoned with the past tech.

The jump in both power and efficiency and the new DX12 makes it like a skipped generation.

And like the above post as Amph said. The GTX 1060 doesn't really scale with the GTX 1070 like expected. Normally the GTX 1060 or RX 480 would be my budget for my main computer but the GTX 1070 just delivers so much more power in regards to the cost

I am so happy for nvidia, they finally made it in august 2016! Better late than never...

If I had to buy new gpu today for mining that would definitely be 1070.

Two very interesting posts. My interest in the 1060 lies in the fact that it is only 25% more expensive than a 970 and that it delivers more than 25% more I think for less wattage. A 1070, that costs more than two times more than a 970, is a lot better, I know, but I prefer to go small by small. Facts about DX12 are interesting, and now make me think to really buy a new generation GPU.

Based on everything I've seen to date, if you're serious about DX 12 you need to go AMD RX4xx series not NVidia 10xx series.

Or you need to go mixed, per a COUPLE reports I've seen.

Even though DX12 bumps performance up on AMD cards more, you will encounter moments where some new graphical setting is restricted to the latest DX. Main point of DX12 is that it's another factor in favor of the 1000 series GPU's on top of being 2 generations in performance above the 900

Going 1000 will resell much easier.

29.3 MH/s with power limit on 50, which would amount to 90 watts from the wall after factoring an 80+ efficiency PSU

I'm gradually raising the memory clocks up to find the highest stable hash rate I can make with the power limit on 50. Right now 29.3 is the mean hash rate

Memory gets odd when nearing 800. I got a severely laggy and frozen screen a few times pushing 800 with the power limit on normal when I first started mining ETH. It seems like 560-600 is where you can achieve a clean stable 29 hash rate but yet going to 800 hardly raises the rate and the hash rate is instable since the core clock is fluctuating too much. I forgot what the memory was on at the time but I found that setting the core clock offset from -200 to -175 managed to stabilize the core clock. I've observed a trend with core clock fluctuations and hash rates. Stablizing the core clock can sometimes make a hash rate bouncing around fix right to the higher value.

As for problems at 800 memory, maybe it was only because the power limit was normal allowing the core clock to get too high with the memory. I'm just upping the memory slowly through the days and setting it back a bit over night to make sure it keeps mining the long hauls.
