Anyone have some reviews of the best ASICS to use during the mining of Alt-Coins?

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

For Scrypt, as of RIGHT NOW the KNC Titan (if you can find a WORKING one), Innosilicon A2 Terminator, and Alcheminer are the best - but Innosilicon should be shipping their new A4 Dominator units shortly, which are more efficient than even the Titans.

 For X11 you have 3 options of which the Balikal seems to be the most efficient.

 Otherwise, it's still GPUs and CPUs depending on the specific coin.
