I'm new to Alt coins and was considering ETC. Any Thoughts?

I want to make a small investment and see how it goes. What do you people think of ETC, I looked up Etherium and read something about a hacker and a hard fork, so I googled what Hard fork was and saw ETc was the newer one and now im considering buying.

If i lose, no big deal but it will discourage me. I'm putting in like 150$ to try this out. Is it a good choice?

For now I would not recommend holding ETC. There is good news that Charles Hoskinson will commit to the development of ETC but things are not very stable yet for the platform. The situation with the DAO attacker and white hat group may still escalate more and it may involve the authorities. That is only a speculation from me but I foresee it happening. I also heard lawyers will be involved in the distribution of the ETC held of the white hat hackers. That is not a good sign for the owners of those funds.

I do not know much about monero. It would be better to ask the ones that do in the XMR speculation thread. But my suggestion for you is to wait for ETC. One sign that it is good to invest in it is when the hash rate is increasing and stays above 30% of ETH's hash rate. Miner support is more essential for it now than a high price.

ETC is a lot to deal with at the moment. A lot of factors in play that we can't control for, a lot of uncertainty (and subsequent volatility). If you are new, ID chill on the ETC for a minute, it's choppy waters. Honestly, ID suggest you trade BTC/USD or some other fiat pair for a while. Not as volatile, and if you get stuck on one side you have fiat, the other side and you have bitcoin. Not so bad.

You won't make the same profits that you would have had you caught a wicked ETC spike, but you wont be upset because the price ran to ruin.

i think both ethereum chain are performing the same, i see no real reason to choose one above another, i just switch to the most profitable, the onyl thing is that maybe etc can increase much more, because there is more room to increase maybe?

Yeah i heard some news that ETH will be converted in ETC so that these following days we will see the price increase of ETC..

In my opinion ETC Was not a good choice but you can put or invest there small amount better to invest few of your capital to other top 20 altcoin that you can found in coinmarketcap.. Don't invest in ethereum right now its risky..

ETH is the newer (forked) one not ETC. that one is the classic or the old chain.

anyways none of this matters becasue ETC has the potential of growing and giving you some good profit in the upcoming week. especially since the plans of ethereum foundation to dump their ETC to kill the price has failed.

but remember that this is risky and you can also lose your money.

Monero rose pretty much atm. While it has potential, it also have quite a chance to also fall back.

Yeah looks like i am feeling bad right now in this two altcoin ethereum and ETC because i think the owner is only one team are the same so its still risky they are just playing the value of the price attracting people to invest again. and they already experience of hacking.. better to dont choose in etc or eth.. its risky right now to invest in that two altcoin..

I will suggest lisk because price has been in lower range for many weeks now at 40000 satoshi per lisk. Buy at this 40000 range and hold for next few weeks for 20 to 30% rise or even you can double it if you hold for few months. Another coin that is getting good attraction this days is ETH clone coin Krypton (KR) which has pumped over 5x in last 2-3 months steadily, it is listed in bittrex and may soon get listed in polo.

Yes. I second the Lisk suggestion. They are trying to achieve the same goals as Ethereum with a different style of approach. Instead of inventing a new programming language they are using javascript. So there is no need to learn a new programming language if you are a developer.

They Both Make Promises they will never be able to keep.
Smart Contracts require that the Court Systems will Uphold Them.
With all of the different laws in every country, Neither ETH or ETC will be accepted into Contract Law.
Made a contract with a minor , Judge declares your contract invalid.
Made a contract where sharia law is the standard and charge over 10% interest and have your contact nullified for breaking their holy laws.
ETH & ETC Names will be changed to HardForks, because they will be doing one weekly as they have 0 Legal Standing.
Day Trade if you want to make money off of them, but hold for too long and expect to get burned.

If you want to invest in ETC, I do not think it is a bad idea. But it is better to wait until early September. The situation will be clear then.

I think it is a lot better if you invest a smaller amount if you are new to altcoins, and especially for that you should try to be extra careful about what you invest your money in and maybe try to spread your investment among a couple of altcoins for example buy 20% ETC and 20% x and 20% y and 20% z and keep the remaining 20% in bitcoin and in time increase your investment but not at the beginning.
