Base for new coin

I've been out of the altcoin scene for about a year, and I'm looking to get back into it by building my own coin. I remember a lot of people cloning mint, sdc and a few other coins back then. Is there any coin with a strong base? I was thinking of just using basic litecoin as a starting foundation, but figured maybe I can get some input.

I have some ideas not done yet, so I figured I'd give them a shot and see what comes from it.

yeah etehreum has a very storng base and market cap, you can buy safely or mine safely, because i doubt they can kill a 1 bilions market cap coin, there is also decred which is a nice strong coin, and a bunch of other like spreadcoin and steem

i dont agree with that... well, actually i agree they cant kill a 1 billion market cap in one day but doest seem smart to buy it right now..
the price is varying widely and the fundamentals seem pretty risky, wouldnt be killed but definitelly could go under 0.01 in a few days.
