There is no any disadvantage in opening your own faucet, or a website of any kind, I have some websites of different categories and there I am earning some amount with the visitors i get there, Try to advertise that faucet site to some sites which will have  good number of visitors with that you will get increased traffic.

With enough users and advertisements, you can get some nice profit off it. Faucet & Casino are a great combination, in my opinion. Merge them and you will find a big number of users getting addicted to your website.

For faucet-only websites, this can be profitable because of the revenue of your ads. Even if it's a few bucks or tens of bucks a week/month, it's still some extra cash you can save. Some faucet websites are getting thousands of dollars per month in revenue.

No real use in opening one because most people that are experienced in bitcoin move away from it after a couple of claims because they see other things are worth more to do than slaving away at several faucets for pennies after 20 claims to cashout them anyways.

What about kids? What about those really interested in faucets? There are a lot of people using them, and the owners are making good profit off them. You just need to be 'on top', trying to attract as many users as you can.

Anyone who is thinking about opening a faucet should probably read this article and see how much work it is, and realize that you may actually LOSE money if you aren't getting enough traffic.

Actually Ofir Beigel paid others to make most of the work for him on the faucet site, like bot protection. So if you can do it all yourselves, you could make good faucet site in your spare time. Hard to lose money then unless bots hit you unprepared, but then you can review user activity before actually sending the payments. If you use the free faucetbox faucet as the OP plans, then fighting with bots is tough as the payments are automatic in real-time.

Not that running faucet site is worth your time, but if you include other content you can profit from then it could be worth geting regular visitors claiming their Satoshis everyday.

Well the pennies costumers earn are for free, if those costumers make 5 claims a day and 2 clicks i believe the admin or owner of any faucet will be able to raise the pot, but there are bots killing the faucet, soo without a good security against bots kindly dont even bother to make it live.

Faucets from first look are looking like simple business method. But to have good faucet is like a rocket science. Firstly you have to create unique faucet. There are hundreds of simple faucetbox faucet, and it's hard to surive between it. To make popular faucet, you have to promote faucet : spam on forums and social networks, spend money for advertising. When you will have popular faucet, bots will find it and it's very hard to fight against them. It's also to get enough revenue to keep faucet allive : adsense don't allow faucets and other ad networks only pays dust if compare with adsense. At the end, if you somehow will get profit from faucet, probably it will small amount of money. So, you have to decide yourself, if it's worth to have faucet and to get from it almost nothing.

Ok you may be right topiOleg, but anyone who knows enough about programming, web hosting, etc to make a successful faucet
can probably spend that time and make just as much, if not more, doing something else with their skills.
I'm sure that even just getting a job as a web developer working for an hourly rate would earn you more cash.

Sites that make the most I believe are the ones that are games in itself. Like RPG games, or casino games. This allows users to spend their coins BACK into the site for upgrades and bonuses-- so you're paying out less.

I would love a pet site (like neopets.com or something similar) that has flash games, text games, items, shops, stocks, quests and forums that used satoshi as a currency instead of its own made up one (or at least have where you can exchange the site's currency for the bitcoin), you can keep track of cheaters better this way.

The con to this is needing time, artists and programmers. The pro though is that no one really has access to the bitcoins you're offering, since you could easily have your btc offsite. And you can use google adsense, since it's more than just "I am giving you money' kinda thing.

I used to work in one though, and if you have true users who support you, you can get a lot of stuff for free (artwork); you just need to make it known that you're accepting help. Another thing you can do is host a contest, giving some satoshi to the person who makes you the best image. When I was doing it, I was given 2 premium monthly packages every month (these packages were filled with useful premium items that were used in item collections and expired upon the next month, so it was worth it to me at the time, since I played there).'

If you're a decent owner (or have a decent manager to run your things for you if you suck at human relations), you will get faithful users and support. You just need to be patient, and listen to your users. You want to run a site that KEEPS users there all day, as that creates more views and activity on your site, so that is why I suggest what I did. And the more things you have for users to do, the better.

You could start off with just raffles and lotteries though, but those things have pretty much been done over and over in the faucet community.

Good question and i can tell you i opened my first faucet site with faucetbox here 14 days ago, the profit is not that hugh (only around 0.2$ if im NOT calculatin web hotel cost).
i had 2 bot attacks from russia and had to block them out since they dryed my out, i can only tell you to watch where your users come from and what pattern they use and block the scam / cheats out ASAP!

Installing a capacthe is needed an the 4 faucetbox use are simply not good enof to secure your faucet that is why i would find an alternative one and install and modify to gain more security.

Remember you need to use some GOOD ads site else you will NOT be able to gain a profit, i tryed "a-ads" and "google adsense" and can only say google adsense have a good and fair amount they pay ouot to the users, while a-ads has only payed me around 40k satoshi and atm i gave more than 300k satoshi so as u see a-ads doesent really pay off.
Remember to make more than just the claim opportunity on you site, else adsense will not allow ads on your site and u will be banned.

To gain a increase of your income, you should also make a short "ref" list over sites you think is good, this way u can obtain a nice ekstra fee (like moonbit or freebitco).
The ref list / what is bitcoins / how to gain more (gambling) is subsites you can make so the sites has more forfilling stuff and is approved by adsense .

I use a-ads and adbit( you should put many banner with bid around 10k satoshi),   my alexa rank is not enough to use mellowads, i just introduce my faucet on some fourum and social media, and now have 4-10k times claim per day

You can benefit from having faucet site but if you get the right visitors. I mean not a bot that will deplete your faucet balance.

I think that bitcoin faucets are not getting too much profit nowadays because less people are joining faucets unless they have a bot or a faucet rotator, also without marketing it is useless.

Faucets had their time already, just few faucets are able to stand alive over 1 year and those are the faucets that pays lower then 100 satoshis, i really believe faucet is dying because low rewards and too many captcha and bots attacks, i believe faucets will be ending over the next 5-10 years, when people wont be interested into claim 100 satoshis anymore, or even less as bitcoin should keep growing.

Soo now there are few faucets making a good income, but i doubt they allow you to live from it, even if have 10 faucets, the fact is without google adsense monetizing all your traffic, its very hard to keep a faucet live.
