I want discuss about bitcoin.
2 weeks ago my friend asking me,
'What's your job now,i said trading bitcoin bro'

He surprised about my statement.
I ask 'why?why you looks like that'
He said,'it possible?money for criminal like that can be used for trading?'

I answer,'why not?that legal,thats money is depend ur purpose,buy or sell something,or you will donation for terrorist.

Any have same statement like me?

That's the common misconception. Bitcoin is not used for criminal activity, or at least not used as much as supposed. If a criminal wanted to use bitcoin, they could use a more anonymous altcoin, like monero.

Yes, it seems some people who never used Bitcoins only heard about Bitcoin in some news regarding criminal activity recently. But in the past people heard about price regarding Bitcoin from the media news as well, coming to the false conclusion Bitcoin is get rich or tullip scheme. I dont know what is worse from these two stories, but obviously just to depend on media news to understain certain subject is not enought.

Bitcoin was introduced in 2009 and terrorism and other criminal activities all have a long history.Man created weapons for self defense and hunting but same weapons are also uesd for killing and violence.It is upto you how you use something

Yup! that true. IT doesn't mean that if we say Bitcoin that means that we are using bitcoin to buy drugs in the deep web! pay to enter a website in deep web for the child pornography or some one else. Lot of people now a days said that person who have bitcoin is they are using it for the illegal activities online. But lets say yes! but it doesn't mean all of us using it .

How can you know that? if ever there was a survey that happened. Because I do not think anyone knows for sure criminals, more use dollars or bitcoin. But I think because the dollar is better known, the majority of criminal use this currency. IMO

They think that Bitcoin is being used by criminals while they can't even get a clue of what's happening with their fiat money. Whatever currency it is may it be digital currency or fiat currency,it can be use by the criminals. People should not generalized that bitcoin is only for criminal because any other currency or commodity is use for crimes as long as it's acceptable as payment. Maybe the one who are thinking that it is for criminal are the ones who didn't really know the nature of bitcoin and just they just believed what they have seen or heard in the news or media which is sometimes fabricated just to let people believe that it is use for bad purposes.

I think this situation is not new anymore. Most people who are just informed by media sometimes knew that bitcoin is used by criminals, just used in doing bad things, even they don't even tried it. It's good that you let your friend understand, that's the least you (or anyone here) can do imo. In the end he is still the one to decide about it.

Can't blame your friend for thinking that bitcoin is equivalent to "criminal's money". I have a friend who also thought it that way. I think that is a result of years of bad publicity on bitcoin. What the common people doesn't get to hear about are the benefits bitcoin gives to the ordinary people and how it can empower those who didn't have access to such a currency. Bitcoin really has a long way to go towards being viewed generally as a trustworthy digital currency.

well it's easy to know,from when dollar was created compared to bitcoin,and if you look back,there's so many drugs lord before bitcoin was created,so they'll definitely using dollar to do an international transaction,that's enough to give you reference that dollar is even worse than bitcoin

That is a reputation of bitcoin made by media in the minds of people not using bitcoin, who says bitcoin is criminals currency?
What if a criminal hacks an account of a hospital and asks for US dollars? Will US dollar be called a criminal currency after that? Absolutely not, then why that rule applies for bitcoin?
It is upto the person who uses a currency if what way he uses it, if someone uses it for well then it is good for himself and if someone uses it for bad actions then that will become bad for himself, just by some evil people using bitcoin in a bad way does not make the whole coin "the criminals currency".
