Basically, I sold Bitcoins on there and now I'm trying to figure out how to safely get the money out. Currently, it looks like the only way is an international bank transfer, but that throws up every paranoid red flag I have to give a random site my name, address and bank account info. I would like to send it to Paypal instead, but that seems to be getting increasingly difficult (BitInstant's option is gone today, it seems, for example).

That is an excellent question and would love to see the solution, as well. I just opened my own MtGox account!
How rapid was your sale, by the way?

I cashed out with 35 coins a few days ago (they've since gone up; kind of a paranoia sell when they were plateauing). The market-value sale was instant.

If you are US based try localbitcoins.com. Many people will take Mtgox USD just as easily as they would some BTC. Especially if you are offering 1=1 or close to it.

Mmm... I don't know if I like that idea, though it is an idea, so thanks for that.
Has anyone actually done a transfer out of MtGox to a bank? Is it as shaky as I think it would be?

What's the best way to get money out of Bitcoin economy? Most efficient in terms of time, is delete your wallet.

This is exactly what I would have suggested as well. If you look over the in Currency Exchange section you'll see established folks willing to buy these as well as BTC.

This seems to be the slow boat to nowhere. Funds are low for Paypal.

I decided to give fastcash4bitcoins a shot with a small order, ended up with an error (status unknown, it says) after the Bitcoin payment confirmed. Not really inspiring confidence, that one...
Edit: Oop, there it goes... order updated from error to paid. A little unusual, but it DID go through~

Glad you got your funds fast. Sorry for the confusion in the incorrect status message. When processing a batch there is a different status code and it looks like the order page is not properly reflecting this. It has been patched on the development server and will be rolled to production soon.

They seem to be about 2% behind on MtGox, so I'm not sure it is that great a deal. Given the new legislation if you are US based it seems all the exchanges are going to have some friction with getting dollars in or out.
