Hi folks, I withdrew half a coin from deepbit earlier and noticed my wallet was telling me to update in the bottom when I opened my client (where the # of blocks etc usually is). I thought it wasn't updated and I wouldn't be able to get to my btc until i visited the site that it told me to go to. I went and updated but that transaction doesn't show up- kind of like it never existed. I had a friend send me a tiny amount to the same address that I withdrew to and that showed up fine. So the transaction is in the blockchain but I can't get at it. Thanks for reading this, help would be much appreciated!

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

is the transaction confirmed? if not, it will appear when a block confirms it

edit: when you said blockchain you mean blockchain.info or the bitcoin block chain?

ok, it probably isn't confirmed though it never showed up as 'unconfirmed' like it did before. I'll just give it some time, hopefully that'll fix it
i've got 8 confirmations on a transaction sent after this so I'm pretty sure it's not that.

edit: actually i just checked blockchain.info(i hadn't before) and it doesn't show up there. could it be that the coins were never sent?
