This community has way above average intelligence.*
*...or at least we did in 2011 before Mega-Bubble 1.0  Cheesy
and plenty of history with warnings telling you to be careful.

Lending huge amounts to strangers based (partly) on reputation at a site that looks like a spreadsheet?
  • In 2013, is bitcoin-otc (or WOT) really the "Gold standard" for rep in our community?
I never bothered to use it, so my only record of transactions is PM's.

...or the thread title:
Why are so many people around here still so careless with their $ and BTC?
Please discuss.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I've looked at that site several times and never understood why people would value rep earned there.
Are you saying you do?
Why?

Do you think calling me childish names increases your rep in this community?
How?

I don't need rep.  I only buy bitcoin, I don't need trust from anyone in this community or elsewhere.  I give the cash, give me the coin.

Same, I could spend a month making 40 accounts on btc and do trades pay back gain 300 rep be #1 star then take a 10,000 btc loan for some huge project promising to pay back because I've already dealt with 163k coins all paid back in full.
