I installed OpenBazaar some time back and had it online for a few days. Great user experience. Very professional. However, I stopped because it was not possible (or at least I was not able) to open just one or two ports on the router and start accepting incoming connections. As I understood this will be solved with the go-version of OpenBazaar, currently under heavy development.

Then I will try again. It wouldn't surprise me if many other people also join at that time.

I think they should have to advertise their site, they have to start a signature campaign with that I know they will get more fame and more success as it is a bigger community of bitcoin users.

I never understood the hype around OpenBazaar. From the very start I was not convinced that the store concept was a good idea. The system should focus on article properties and not on individual stores. It would have been much better if it was organized around well chosen item categories with the possibility - in addition to a search function - to easily browse in categories.

An even more important factor is the type of implementation: It needs a web browser to run. That is imho not a good idea, because it makes the user experience less "clean", because the ease of installation and program responsiveness are harmed. It would be much better if it was a standalone client like Bitcoin Core with no additional programs needed to use the marketplace. Simplicity is king.

That said I still think it is to early to call OpenBazaar dead. We have to wait and see, if and how the dev team improves the project.

Nope. It's a great idea and it's still very early in its lifecycle.

I think it would help if they used TCP instead of UDP. I understand the reasons for it but it makes it much more difficult to implement TCP-dependent software/protocols, like other coin wallets, for example. This limits only a few would-be shopowners, not the greater OpenBazaar community. So overall they have nowhere to go but up.

I don't see any failure, what I see is lack of growth, which is very different. OB is a small stable market and it's just waiting for some killer product to get to a new stage. The sad point is that as of today nobody knows what that could be.

Also, ergonomics could be improved.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

Openbazaar is a really great idea. It really is. But crypto, especially bitcoin has gained a big idea of holding around it, which means people will be more inclined to sell and hold than buy.

I made a topic similar to this one few months ago, now I once again checked the OpenBazaar stats and It looks like they are the same (If not worst)

I've been checking the stats almost daily but there is absolutely no progress : https://bazaarbay.org/stats/day

The question is : Can we consider OpenBazaar as a failure in the crypto currency world ? and why ?
Because the Open bazaar is very less in their advertising and many people is don't know about open bazaar but just a lot of percentage in this forum knows about it, there is the need to advertising their project and socialising in the outside from here.

Even though i used OpenBazaar only twice untill now i like it a lot and i wouldn't call it a failure, not yet at least.
First of all it is too early to talk about this and then i don't think that it is going that bad,you can see a stagnation for sure but don't forget that it is still something new and people need some time before they get used to new things and start using them.

I dont think its a failure, it just need more time, i know that  the response from the user is not really good, but for me its just a beginning, its the same with bitcoin, not every beginning going to start smoothly, but i consider openbazaar is already a good start and has a potential to be big

For me there are some fundamental flaws around OpenBazaar that must be addressed before it will be viable:

- Client/server software setup is confusing at best for tech-literate people and downright impossible for non-techies (the primary consumer population).
- Documentation is not very good
- The threading in the client app is not well-written. UI and worker processes are not threaded properly causing poor Ux experience
- Escrow is too easy to game
- not marketed to masses
- Reddit
- Reddit
- Niche products that are listed on there are currently geared towards the geek/nerd populace which will not attract most women, the largest purchasing demographic in the world
- Reddit

Did I mention that the community on Reddit is a problem? Yea, the community there may not think so, Reddit's up/down vote system is geared towards a neurotic proportion of the population that tends to think in an echo-chamber of confirmation bias, leading them to think their ideas and output is somehow acceptable to the rest of the world. It isn't.

I haven't been to keen on using Openbazzar until some reviews came in and more people used the service.
It seems to have taken off and has worked out most of the bugs in their system to get it off the ground.
So my question is:
How many clients have they acquired since launch?
Is it safe to say that it is a stable enough platform to use and not be unsecure with making a substantial purchase using it's sevices?

I have been thinking about this too! Maybe it is because the system is still being developed. You can see that making a user to be online 24/7, 365 days every year for the store itself to be online is not a good implementation for the platform. There should be a solution for this soon.

My other thought was what if they already found a solution for the user not to be online all the time. Will Open Bazaar be a good platform to start a Silk Road type store dealing with drugs and other illegal items? I heard it was started as Dark Market and had that in mind.

I was hoping it won't be a failure in fact i have installed the software several months ago but then found none in my area  was actually using it. If i have to sell the shirts I've been printing, i should be able to find people in my area using it but seem not. maybe it just need more marketing that it could reach to the local businesses. its too early to say its a failure.

Seems like they are not interested on spend their bitcoin for anything. But the stats is just normal. No sudden drop and no big rising. People who owns bitcoins use it for gambling and investiments purpose only.

Maybe make some advertisements. Video, banner etc. Let see if that will make an impact to the site. Also increase some products that is easy to buy.

I think OpenBazaar was just created at the wrong time. The idea is awesome but for something like that to really work you need buyers and sellers and not just a few thousands, you need millions to ensure that there is always something interesting going on with new stuff being added all the time. This is compounded by the fact that you need to install special software to use the market. Users right now probably comprises mostly of nerds. Maybe with time it'll get better.

I have heared of openbazar, but I never tested it.
From all I know it works p2p, so you have to install a software.
That is something I do not like.
Is there a way to test it without installing anything?

You have to install it. but there's nothing to it except deciding whether becoming a store or a moderator beyond that, i'm not sure. i tried searching using the hashtag so i can find some users in my area but disappointed to see no one uses the hashtag.

Maybe if itsgoing to be used by thousands it could be popular. A coin dev might want to take advantage of this.
