Is this site ever existed before? I haven't seen such a site really uses OB's core and it is all about hypes about OpenBazaar long time ago.

I am not sure whether OpenBazaar can be declared a failure project at this point. It is definitely too early.
I think that their idea of decentralized marketplace is amazing, but I doubt it is enough to gather huge consumer base around it.
They are not promoting themselves at all (it is a problem for almost all decentralized projects), so it is pretty obvious they won't be recognized.

I will have to agree with this. It is too early to say that it is a failure. What if we are all satisfied with one price and then want to spend it. Well, the openbazaar will be waiting for that point. But for now I think they should be spending more time in making it better.

Maybe from a lot of people will consider from their statistic before and is not showing the increase in their traffic and some people is feeling doubt if the open bazaar has become a successful project like another people's heralded before the project is launched.

From a personal experience, I didn't see anything different on OpenBazaar than on this forum. Also not a lot of sellers are active on it, so I do feel it wasn't a big success. Also I don't think the world is using bitcoin to buy or sell stuff, so there isn't actually a demand for such a marketplace.

I mentioned that in the thread 1 year ago or so, I knew it wouldn't be a success from the beginning. It's such a difficult task to make a Bitcoin "eBay".

It also lacks advertising. I am here for quite some time now, how many times did I see anything telling me about OpenBazaar? To be pricise, zero as in nothing. How can someone then expect OpenBazaar to gain popularity? Without advertising it's going nowhere.

The main problem is that you cannot just advertise it on Adwords, due to many people just forgetting it before even knowing what's Bitcoin. It should be on crypto related stuff, such as blogs and faucets. I bet it'd increase it's reputation.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Perhaps that it is a good idea to give OpenBazaar some shine through a signature campaign as well. If nothing happens regarding adverstisements, then it will remain an unknown thing.

Not a lot of people actually know of OpenBazaar. Or even if they do, they aren't actually using it.
OpenBazaar was just launched that's basically what it was. It never did any advertisement to get their name up and be known for a bigger community.

Hey everyone, my name is Jenn & I'm with OB1, the company created by the people who started OpenBazaar & are leading development of the platform. Curious as to the recurring suggestion of more advertisement in this thread, what do you think would be the most accessible & helpful? More traditional kinds of advertising like PPC & banner ads or just generally being more present in industry blogs & forums like these? What are your suggestions for places to start? Any insight is appreciated, we agree that more visibility is key as we keep making improvements to v. 1.0 leading up to 2.0 in just a few months!

I think they should have to advertise their site, they have to start a signature campaign with that I know they will get more fame and more success as it is a bigger community of bitcoin users.

I came across it after listening to the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe had on Andreas Antonopoulos who mentioned OB.

This is a perfect platform for our clothing business to go international. I feel it is truly up to the store fronts to be advertising this product.

Hit up Facebook groups, twitter, reddit, the whole nine yards. Make it relevant to your product as you try to grow your costumer base, and you'll see an upswing of OB.

I believe the devs built the platform so the community can sink their teeth and build the brand by being the first decentralized store fronts out there.

This is like the wild west, and you should be staking your claim now before it's too late. At least that's what I've should of done when I first heard of bitcoin, won't make that mistake again.

who's gonna fund the advertising? openbazaar is a platform, not a website or commercial entity. maybe that's one of its issues. it needs some high profile exclusive products and the people who make those products need to be the ones advertising it.

I think this is a relative new project,a platform not only a simple selling site. Personally I have experienced some problem on my mac while try to sell, so maybe a normal user that list 50 articles per month doesn't like lose time just for set up .
Who care about when you have eBay? because with total listing here of 25k items, is nothing compared to item listed in eBay.

The question is : Can we consider OpenBazaar as a failure in the crypto currency world ? and why ?
Noone knows why, you could give many arguments but noone knows for sure.
I mean, new technology need to appear in right time, sometimes its too fast for it, and it will succeed after 10 years in same way it failed before :/

not failure. Its step forward to help bitcoin grow.

Ebay wasnt what it is now within 1st year. slowly it will evolve what we can see watching ebay , gumtree etc.
Please bear in mind its new fresh idea which is developed every day more and more. After bazaar we have bitsquare which in principal is the same.
Proble  with bazaar is access to markets/shops. duo helps a lot but again without client you will not buy anything. So bridge is needed to help usual joe find and buy what hes after.

The different target of the subject is make the differences between the open bazaar and the another global market because openbazaar just aiming the bitcoiners is can't compared with ebay, amazon and etc is aiming a fiat users or I like for calling that is a local user.
the result will different considering from various element but we can't be using the global market into the standing of the p2p market like open bazaar.

No no, we cant conclude that shop if its a success or a failure yet. We give it more time. Bitcoin users love to keep their coins now for they are still thinking of the rise. But someday they will have to use it and that shop will be waiting for them.

i think it is such a good idea and we cannot call it as a falier, it just need some extra effort, struggle and hard work with good management and advertisement, hope that the result will be totally different,
It's a good but at the same time it's too bad for saw about their stat... maybe at openbazaar is still just a project structure and is not implementing into the real market at this time i think their ownership is related into personally and there is no a supported funding for doing a various activities for improving their site like trying for advertise their site for increasing the stat of their users or another... i can say that is will be different the ownership is related into personally and company because for personally they will having a lot of limitation for taking any act for improving their site caused by the limitation of their funds.

It’s a good idea. I think the same. But there were a few times I saw a big discussion about it here in Bitcointalk.

If we really want to transforme the OpenBazzar into a success, we’ll do more divulgation.

The idea is great but you need sellers and buyers for it to work and not just a few either. Using the marketplace is not as straightforward as using eBay, you need to run special software. Plus there isn't a lot of incentive for sellers to use the service, why would you go through the hassle of setting up a store on there only to be visible to a couple of hundreds of buyers when you can be on eBay and be seen by millions?
