MtGox seems to be down, no trades going on. Trying to buy or sell doesn't seem to work.  Anyone know what's going on?

wake him up to restart engine!

Protoblock turns knowledge of American football into Fantasybit coin, a margin token used to monetize leveraged skill.

All your funds have been seized!  Run!!!

Oh no wait.. Looks like a technical problem.  Carry on.

I can't even imagine the amount of panic selling that will happen as soon as it come back...

Yup, we're going to see some big PANIC selling when mtgox comes back.
Going to sell my bitcoins as soon as it comes back, because im pretty sure we'll be seeing 14$/btc today still.

I was wondering why I deposited BTC, had 12 confirmations and still didn't see it in my account. I really hope their systems can account for transactions that happen during this outage, I'd hate to lose my BTC Sad

You do realize the price will rebound back up.  If anything buy more when it comes back up, get your DCA lower for potential larger profits.  Or hope you are one of the fastest sellers and rebuy when you think it hits the low.

If you have USD, put up a buy order for whatever you think will be the bottom line (like 14 USD, 10 USD or whatever), if you have BTC sell immediately for whatever it's worth atm (~20 USD?) and then put up a sell order for whatever you think will be the low point.

It could however swing in the other direction as well, with huge buys, a swing to 30(?) and then backfire again with the sales...

I knew what this was going to be before I clicked the link.

Fun Fact.  That song is called Yakety Sax and it reached the Top40 on the Billboard charts in 1963.  People in the 60's sure had a weird taste in music.

Anyone saying when MTGOX resumes there will be panic selling is misinformed or want panic to get a lower price.

I am amazed there isn't more clamouring about this.

I would have placed an order for a price some hours ago, but all I got was "Another trade is still in progress, please retry in a few seconds" for several tries.

I leave, I come back, the price has traded, I was not able to get the order in before I left, I did not manage to convert.

Should be a fairly annoying issue to most people, I'd hazard?
It's quite a bit of opportunity cost racking up.

Ho-Hum.

Selling because you know other people will panic sell -- but everyone else is also selling for the same reason. That's just awesome herd flock mentality.

Hahaha. That is awesome, sir.

It's now my theme song while watching the live order status on Mt. Gox.

Reminds me of those old black-and-white movies with people running stairs up and down fast.

Damn... Oh well, there's always the hope for a late Sunday panic.  I'd love to pick some more up around $15 before the week starts

Same here. But there's still another few hours left of trading Smiley

once the sun comes up in Europe there will probably be a price run up, so you better buy before that, which is around 6 hours I think.
