Was checking my favourite block explorer Smiley, and saw this -

What happened? Was block 425840 rewritten? It's also like this on blockr.io.

Yes this seems quite confusing, does this has happened in past also or not? What this suggests, does this mean network under attack or conflict between miners?  Huh

Hope this is not a big thing we have to worry about.

I don't see anything wrong, block 425840 was mined, and less than a minute later block 425841 was mined. Am i missing something here?

i have no idea what is happening with blockchain.info these days, i think what we see is some series of serious bugs in their platform that displays blocks this way. and this is not the first time this happened either.

there is another similar thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1587575.0
and this one is even more strange, and i don't see any of the replies being any good explanation for it except this being a bug.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

yes, the newest block time was 2 minutes, but this block OP referred was less than 1 minute. My first time to see this.

It happened many times before... The average time between 2 blocks is ~10 minutes. If a lot of hashpower is added or a big miner turns off a lot of gear, the difficulty gets adjusted every 2 weeks to aim for this 10 minute average.

It is, however, an average. It's very possible for some blocks to be mined in less than a minute, while other times it might take 30 minutes between blocks Smiley
