The Internet has provided a new portal for narcotics customers and suppliers to gain access to illicit drugs, says the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). According to a research report by the organization, Dark Net Market (DNM) usage is rising in popularity.
Dark Net Markets Are Growing Exponentially and Overcoming InterventionEMCDDAThe Deep web has become a breeding ground for illicit activity and unusual content, says the EMCDDA’s recent research paper. According to the group, a lot of the attention given to this hidden section of the Internet has been directed at online marketplaces that play an important role in criminal activity, “particularly with respect to sales of new psychoactive substances.” https://news.bitcoin.com/european-drug-report-dark-net-markets/

Websites like Silk Road which enabled users to sell everything they could think of without limiting the content at all have been pioneers in such activity since then so this news is nothing new. I agree that a lot of new marketplaces are born every day and their number has grown to more than 99 the last time I checked before a few days. There is even a Silk Road 3 dark market in which you can pay 0.13 btc as a fee to become a vendor and can sell all kind of illegal things there. All the persons who sell porn accounts like Brazzers etc in the digital section for cheap get their accounts from this kind of marketplaces. Same with Hulu, Netflix etc all accounts are bought there for cheap and they sell here for just a fraction of profit.

Interesting but why are so many people dying lately from drug use linked to the street level? Dealers mixing fentanyl into all drugs seems to be lighting up the death toll. Have read the reasons for this but not sure I buy the Cartels finding this to be a easier game than cocaine fields. Think it points more towards China but the reason is some what unknown.
On the one hand the internet has made it easier but it also makes one bad person on one of these sites with a screw loose to bring the death toll up. Not every customer knows how to check their drugs or even bothers.

Ok, this is a new spin on the old, "Bitcoin is evil because it's used on the Darknet to buy drugs" Now they are saying Bitcoin can be good for the drug trade, because it facilitates a method to deal drugs that are safer than the drugs on the street. You can now give feedback on the quality of the drugs you bought.
I just wonder how many of the dead people can give their their feedback on the bad drugs they have bought? ^hmmm^

There are some people that get the drugs they buy tested. In The Netherlands you can send your drugs for free to testing labs. They will check the chemical composition and provide you with a detailed mass spectrometry report that shows exactly what elements are in there. Say you find that you stuff is actually a 50:50 ratio of something else (or sometimes even worse), you can still give feedback. In addition, experienced users may be able to tell the difference between good stuff and bad stuff mixed with all kinds of shit without dying. They can give feedback afterwards.

Sellers are also doing this on the darknet, I've read a few stories where people died of Fent that was mixed in with Xanax for example. Or they willingly bought Fentanyl and just used an incorrect dose. It's quite interesting to follow the darknetmarkets subreddit, you can read some pretty interesting stories there sometimes.

Easier access of drugs leads to cheaper drugs. Cheaper drugs are more affordable and more enticing. On top of this, the dark web is totally anonymous, meaning that sellers can sell low-quality drugs and increase the death rate.

No matter how much I like the dark net I for sure don't like people to die. This is a personal matter though, the buyer should do all the research regarding the drug he is buying and not just random buy any drug he may think it's ok to use. Best would be absolutely to not use drugs and not to drink much alcohol, a lot of deaths can be saved from these 2 underrated killers.

Imagine if they legalize the drugs bitcoin price will beat -$300 Drugwars is a complete joke in my opnion. They will never legalize all drugs, except for marijuana and in some countries even alcohol is forbidden. So if you selling Alcohol in one country, it might be legal.. but totally illegal in another. Stuff like Heroin and Cocaine will never be legalized in ANY country. The amount of bitcoins being used to buy drugs are unknown, so how are you calculating your possible price drop?

Good, I'm very happy with that. It shows how a totally unregulated market can get better, delivering better products to the consumers, without any state intervention. When everybody will have understood thta, there will be more people wondering about the utility of government.

War on drugs has failed in most peoples eyes, the anti government stance is one that is harder to really uproot. Government as nasty as it can be at times, does serve a purpose. For example I have construction all around me as they tear down the houses built 30-45 years ago to max out the lots or sub divide and put two up instead of one. If there where no rules I would be listening to nails being banged all day and all night. The concrete would not have rebar as it is to expensive and a easy corner to cut. Hell they could knock down my house and I would either have to fight or give up because there is no rules or regulations. I like to see changes but not all at once, the world has far to many retarded folks to just go full on no government. Not saying I do not hear the plight and not saying I do not agree, just think the issue is little more murky than black and white.

I read : "European Drug Report: Dark Net Rising in Use,"
I was like: Ok, what's new about that.
And then came this part : "Making Drugs Safer"
Me : Wait, What??
Conclusion: Nice article. Even better Title! Ended up clicking the bait. Anyway, makes sense. You gotta be a complete idiot if you're just gonna smoke/take/shoot-up/whatever, any drugs off the streets after all the kinds of toxic counterfeits showing up. Good thing there are smarter/safer option.(?)
Now, if only the government can catch up and step up their efforts in countering the drug trade.

Yeah, it's scary in the U.S. with all the Fentanyl around. There are a lot of overdoses happening, and the word on the street is that it's coming from China. Who knows if that's actually true, but this should not reflect poorly on bitcoin. People have always used government currency to purchase drugs and everything else. The dark markets have just made it a lot easier than finding a drug dealer on the corner. Crazy.

Imagine if they legalize the drugs bitcoin price will beat -$300 Drugwars is a complete joke in my opnion. Legalizing drugs? I don't think this will ever happen but as being student of food technology i know some benificial properties of marijuana oil including anti cancer properties. I can remember one of my friend have also done a complete thesis on this topic and he have collected so much marijuana but even for study purpose he find it quite difficult to gather and safely bring it to lab. So may be in few more years some of the countries may legalize products having some marijuana extracts for health benifit but other drugs may not be legalized for sure. So i don't think darkweb will ever see downtrend, same goes to bitcoin price. When more and more people start to use bitcoin for illegal items price may grow and i don't think bitcoin should be blamed for its uses in purchasing illegal items, even many are still using cash or even bank transfer for drug related deals.
