A technology is in the end measured by its real world applications and value. When all is said and done you have to close the study books and go out there into the world and make something happen. Whether that is provide the thirsting junkies with their fix or growing legs on sub saharan amputee babies, all the rest is pseudo intellectual wankery or hobbyism.

Now as far as crypto goes, one of the use cases it actually succeeded at is providing those who want to buy goods deemed illegal by whatever collection of mediocre numbskulls is ruling them with an avenue to do so, at a significantly lower risk than before. World hunger is still there, and the unwashed masses still haven't been provided with soap yet, but that's ok. We will get to that too, using blockchain, maybe. Or probably not.

why?.. it's way more anonymous than bitcoin(and faster) , it would be perfect to DNM.

Yes. In the case of XMR I did not realize that something as simple as anonymity will be an important asset in a currency. I was already ok with the idea of BTC + mixing service until the Alpha Bay and Oasis announcement has me convinced that XMR will become a very highly used coin in the darknet. Maybe the developers should make light wallets to make it more newbie friendly and gain faster adoption.

i think lightwallets are the next step, xmr had a "little" community over the time so it weren't needed. but now it will be.

I'm convinced of this for years, and it is what is holding me somewhat back on bitcoin.  However, I didn't realize that people were going to realize it.  I thought they would continue to "facebook" on crypto.

The XMR has rise about 90%,must because this news!

Any good news or rumors can pump a coin. Now it's time for cooldown. Let's see where it stops.

i think lightwallets are the next step, xmr had a "little" community over the time so it weren't needed. but now it will be.

This would be wonderful news, but while the normal wallet is still not released (though I've read it's functional, so the release should be near), maybe light wallet is not something we should ask for too quick.

There's a light wallet already available. It's really easy to set up but it could even be made easier if the developers will make it. I could post a small guide if you want.

How about they just make it a felony to own Monero, or any other anon coin?
Thats what I see coming, sooner than later.
How about its just a project pushed by some three letter agency, to attract and track down people who have a business interest in anon coins?

- Tried before with gold, alcohol, other drugs, file sharing, ... these policies have always been one big failure...

- if such news would arrive, let's fork it away from that agency...

sound like a lot of work. it's gonna be way easier to put the heat on exchanges but I don't think governments care enough about it for now.
