I'm brand new to bitcoin...

Running guiminer 2012-12-03 and cannot connect. I'm able to login via the website, I've changed my worker password to be the same as my user password on the website.

My single worker is called worker1, on guiminer.exe I am using "myusername.worker1" as the username.
I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275, pretty sure it's supports Open CL.
I am selecting Slush's Pool from the drop down list.
I have also selected "other" and typed in manually "api.bitcoin.cz" with port 8332 -- didn't help

I have set the Bitcoin client path (although this is only for solo right? I really didn't need to do this for pooling?)

I'm using Win8 64

and I'm getting this..

2013-03-27 11:29:09: Running command: poclbm.exe xxxx.worker1 :xxxx@api.bitcoin.cz:8332 --device=0 --platform=0 --verbose -r1

Just a guess by looking at the output, make sure you might not have a space after your username.  It is showing xxxx.worker1 :xxxx@api.bitcoin.cz:8332 and I am not sure that space should be there after worker1.

I've had no problem connecting to Slush's today. Using stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333.

Edit: Using cgminer, not guiminer. (Guiminer had very inconsistent MHash rate, a problem I don't have with cgminer.)
