Twitch Re-adds Bitcoin Payments

Twitch removed Bitcoin at some point , and now they are adding it. As far as I know , they were dealing with Xsolla (which is a cross-platform payment) and since Xsolla disabled Bitcoin payments (as you can see here https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/425490/xsolla_doesnt_accept_bitcoin_anymore/ )  , users of Twitch was unable to use it.

Now , they partnered with Coinbase as you can see in the picture below and they are accepting Bitcoin once again :

I don't even know what twitch is (I'll google in a sec), but this is cool.  Looks like they accept everything else, so why not? 

Have a lot of the other companies that were first to accept bitcoin stopped taking it?  Like Dell and overstock?  I confess I never spend bitcoin, but I totally support people who do.

It's a company owned by Amazon.com (no , Amazon will probably never accept Bitcoin as payment method since It's not the same thing) , Twitch is a website for gamers to stream , It's pretty much like YouTube but It's live streaming for gamers only.

Nice to see twitch re-enabled Bitcoin payments. I can now resub to Hiko, my favorite CS:GO streamer <3. Definitely nice to see they've made sure to even get a nice and solid payment processer, I honestly thought they'd go with the Bitpay route. No longer do I have to buy prepaid cards!

If you don't know what Twitch is, it's a streaming site that allows people to stream their gameplay live, with a chat that has unique emotes! I definitely recommend you check it out if you haven't already- it's amazing. I recommend watching CS:GO (I've been a semi-pro; ex-premier on ESEA) if you don't already; the game is definitely unique and has lots of teamwork involved. Of course there's other games like Dota2 and LoL on there, but I primarily use it for watching CS:GO.

This is great news. The gaming world is finally started to show solid adoption for Bitcoin and this can be seen by this move by Twitch, Steam adding Bitcoin as a form of payment and amazing game based projects like Spells of Genesis (BCY) and Jewels (JWL). The future is now!

Twitch have several options to choose from when you want to avail a subscription and what good is that despite that, they still added Bitcoin back as one of it. It is really a good site, I used to watch playthroughs of video games there before. @Rubberduckie I can relate about being unaware that Twitch is a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc, thanks @OmegaStarScream, now I know.

As far as I know , no you shouldn't.
They are using Coinbase , just like Steam use Bitpay , they are basically using their API and letting them manage the transactions etc ... Coinbase probably allow them to transfer the received bitcoins into cash directly into their bank accounts. (I'm not sure though)

I'm not very familiar with twitch as I never made an account, but I often see some streams over there and see tips raining in with values of multiple dollars. My guess is then than it is just a new method to fund your account for tipping purposes.

Nice nonetheless, although I'm a bit afraid that it doesn't really stand out among all the other options. A bitcoin logo that redirects to coinbase would be much better in terms of promotion.

the only feature on twitch that I have seen which requires money apart from the tipping platforms is the Subscribe feature which is like 4-5 USD which doesn't even offer that much features to be honest.

Gambling sites or platforms who offer Bitcoin for depositing and withdrawing will never use Coinbase!!
Coinbase is US regulated and gambling is not allowed so far.They will close your accounts immediately!
There are big gambling sites outside of cryptoland, like Bovada for instance, accepting Bitcoin.Also for withdrawels!

I'm sure others will follow in the future.
And for sure the gambling sites, mostly known in cryptospace, like Betcoin.ag and others will grow in popularity as well.
It's just a question of time and patience.

While it's nice to see Twitch re-adding a possibility for paying with Bitcoin it's less positive that they are using Coinbase. There has been a significant number of user complaints regarding Coinbase, leaving the impression that it acts similar to Paypal.

In general it is disappointing to see so many companies using third parties (payment providers) to accept Bitcoin. Even disregarding the privacy issues that come with using US payment providers it is also detrimental for Bitcoin's success as a independent currency, because complexity, time lags and transaction costs are added to the transactions. After all, Bitcoin was invented to make owning and managing money independent of third parties (government, banks) easier. Given the simplicity of accepting Bitcoin without the help of third parties it is not understandable why the majority of companies acts this way.

Yes actually gaming platform suits bitcoin which is quite proved by steam started accepting bitcoin and they got lots of bitcoin users intrested to play in their platform. Not only gaming i see bitcoin has lot more potential for gambling, casino and adult industry where anonymity and  high security is needed.

I know you can fund it directly, converted to USD at the time of deposit. I'll have a look at it this weekend.

your statement that i bold,definitely right,even they're using coinbase API for payment gateway,it's definitely not right to use coinbase's logo too,people who uses bitcoin but doesn't even know what is coinbase could potentially don't recognize that bitcoin is already accepted there
