Hello,

I am very new to mining and trying to use RPCminer on my iMac for pooled mining. I have all the data that RPCminer askes for on setup, but I only get:

Client will start 4 miner threads
Work will be refreshed every 4000 ms
Could not retrieve work from RPC server.
CURL return value = 7

No blocks are being hashed right now.  This can happen if the application is
still starting up, you supplied incorrect parameters, or there is a
communications error connecting to the RPC server.

I am looking for guidance on how to begin trouble shooting this when some kind person has time here in the newbie forum.

TIA

I've got the same issue.

Mac Book Pro, late 2011.
RPCMiner.app 1.5
Server Host: mining.bitcoin.cz
port: 8332
miner username: ******.worker1
miner password: worker1password (as provided by bitcoin.cz)

I've established an address already using bitcoin-qt.  I continually get:

Starting RPCminer (CPU)...
--------------------------
Client will start 8 miner threads
Work will be refreshed every 4000 ms
Could not retrieve work from RPC server.
CURL return value = 7
No blocks are being hashed right now.  This can happen if the application is
still starting up, you supplied incorrect parameters, or there is a
communications error connecting to the RPC server.

Any ideas?  I'm not behind a firewall.  I can ping mining.bitcoin.cz with no issues

hey folks, add me to the list of folks who can't get this to work.
i believe the problem comes from the Lion operating system.
i've always mined on my iMac(late 2007 -- i know only CPU mining, horrible hashrate, come on ASCIs!!!). when i installed lion, my miner was no longer able to connect. i get the same error message.
i reinstalled snow leopard and mining works again!
i'd like to be able to update my OS and still mine even in my limited way.
any help would be greatly appreciated. have a lustrous day.

Until I can find out a solution I would also like to know how to uninstall the terminal client? Right now it is attempting to run every time I reboot and then I have to manually qquit Terminal, if I try using the setup wizard I cannot change any of the parameters?

I imagine there is a simple solution to this?
