Hello, I received this email three days after using a wire transfer to send Mt.Gox $200

Why are they claiming to have received only approx. $2 worth when I sent $200?

Mt.Gox Support, Mar 27 14:42 (JST):
Hello,

This is a message from Mt.Gox. Our bank has received your deposit. However, only 200 JPY was received and our bank charges 1,000 JPY for crediting this deposit to our account. We request you to kindly cancel this deposit and send a larger sum that will cover the depositing fee next time. Please let us know once you have cancelled it.

Thanks,

MtGox.com Team

Confusion of currencies? Did one of the banks involved make an error somewhere? It's been known to happen. Roll Eyes

Banks in the US rob you for international payments. In Europe they have the SEPA transfer and get free international wire transfers anywhere in Europe while in the US you get stuck paying $40 wire fees. Its a rip off.

They probably don't pay $40 to wire funds within the US, though. Smiley And European banks probably still charge hefty amounts for foreign (non-EU/EFTA/SEPA) transfers...

Banksters gonna bank.

SEPA is not free. It charges flat 8$ for SEPA transfer here. SEPA means it will arrive in quantity indicated and the fees will be deducted separately and not from the money sent as in this case.
