I have time to prepare for my batch #3 avalon import... but since our customs office is really a pain in the ass - i usually need to show payment receipt or proof what is the actual value of the imported goods - so that they can then hit me with 20% tax on it...

I already heard from few users - that avalon marks $300 as the value on the box... but with my experience customs might ask me to verify this number... Now, with avalon asic and payment in BCs that might get complicated (especially is BC value goes beyond $100 by mid may)...

So I am asking all batch#1 and batch#2 european users - how was your experience, and how much tax did you pay - or even if you managed to avoid it - what did you tell the customs?

Also - has anyone sent avalon to a company's address? And particularities there?

thanks,
W

I've choosen EMS and not DHL because I have better experience with them.
With DHL I had to pay every time the tax with EMS the last time I orderd something from China I could avoid the tax .

Ordered stuff from China before, i trust DHL to get the stuff here, and for this kind of money i dont care about the extra costs. I just wanna get it here safe rather then getting it stuck somewhere. Ive ordered stuff with others too, dont know EMS tho.
Also ordering from China is cheaper then ordering from US so im glad they ship from there.
One more thing, you cant avoid tax over here, some company's pay for customs too. so that leaves tax. But if it comes from China it still cheaper then the US.
(ordered a BFL single once, had to pay 150 euro extra for it. i think the price was 650 usd?, thats insane, while i got something with a price from 3K from China with an extra cost of 90 euro using DHL)

I used TNT this time, since they claim to have fastest shipping, but what a nightmare, first they delayed the package due to weather problem, and they did not appologize, and then they charge high fee, custom fee + VAT, and they even charge a VAT upon custom fee  Shocked  Never gonna use them in the future

EMS is generally good, 50% chance to avoid tax if the value is declared not so high

Don't use EMS for Germany. They'll rip you off (for getting the package through customs).

What is the story about pirateat40 ? I searched but could not get to the original event thread. (noticed this in your sig). I can guess it was a big scam, but what was it ? Many members talk about it.

Whats the limit dhl will anticipate to the customs for me?
If I receive 5 avalons, that's almost 1500€ in import taxes. Will I have to pay 1500€ cash to the dhl delivery man or what?

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:
Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)
Hashfast.org - Wiki for screwed customers
