OK so I'm brand new to bitcoin market and whatnot, but I'm going away for the summer and leaving my gaming rig will do pretty much nothing while I'm gone. My pops suggested using bitcoin mining to make a few spare dollars while I'm gone. Anyway, long story short, I have installed all the software (I think) including ati stream 2.1, current catalyst drivers, bitcoin client, and poclbm. I've got a xfx 5970 (1gb). Win XP Pro SP3.

But, I keep getting this error after a few seconds... "Verification failed, check hardware!"

I've done some searching around on the forums and internet, and I can't seem to come to a conclusive answer. Maybe disable crossfire? Maybe underclock? I have a 650w power supply so power shouldn't be an issue. I don't have two cards though, only 2 gpus. So I don't understand why its giving me this error.

At any rate, I would like to be able to use both gpus, and also not get this error. Any help appreciated Smiley

EDIT: I added a -v to my batch command and it stabilized one of my gpus. Please, any ideas on how to get the second gpu working properly would be super appreciated! Smiley

I looked up some stuff about crossfire, and it does seem that is the cause of the corruption (maybe.). Windoze XP radeon drivers apparently don't let you control the crossfire status,  so I installed a clean slate ubuntu 10.10  64 bit and followed this guide here http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=3359.msg47174#msg47174

This worked near perfectly. You have to dig for the 2.1's SDK url, but its still available. Im now churning out around 625 Mhash / second on just one 5970, without over-clocking. Smiley
