Hello all!

So, as an avid supporter of Bitcoin as a currency and as a movement, for a long while I have wanted to create a website that would contribute to this space, hopefully to as many users of as many types as possible. Not too long ago I did so, and although the overall design is admittedly lacking, I am beginning to feel that the site holds (just) enough to be of use to at least SOMEWHAT in the community. However, I would be very happy to reach more users and / or have the site be of even more use to people, which is why I am posting this thread: I would love input from BTCT on what I could add, modify, remove, etc. to make my website the best it can be for as many Bitcoin users as possible!

The website I have created is at http://withbitco.in; the URL is designed so that I can have additional, user friendly sub-domains like http://faucet.withbitco.in etc. Currently the site mostly features the following:
  • A Faucetbox based BTC faucet
  • Two full-length books on Bitcoin
  • A mirror of a popular ASIC file repo, including a working opkg repo for Antminer users
  • A Bitcoin 101 / 'Essential Bitcoin' / Bitcoin Guide section
  • A (still under development) list of current Faucetbox BTC faucet URLs

Please take a moment to check out my website and let me know of any suggestions you might have, other than the obvious design work / redesign that needs to take place (unless you happen to have an awesome idea for a layout or template that would be perfect or the likes)! BTCT seems to be a great community by and for Bitcoin users of all sorts, and I have high hopes that posting this request here will get me exactly the quality and variety of suggestions I could use.

ICYMI: http://withbitco.in is the URL and suggestions on how to better the site is the name of the game!
Thanks for taking a minute to help a community member and the community as a whole!

Done, thanks and also apologies!

You should try and come up with something new.

Well currently I am trying to think of non-casino games to integrate into the faucet that may be interesting to users, but Tetris et. al. do not strike me as games that would add much to the boxed faucet experience that I currently have. Although both simple and intricate games would be ideal as I'd both like to draw new users and keep established users entertained while earning without the "gambling" style of games that make up nearly all of the faucet-plus-game websites that are out there. If someone can think of a game or two that fit into these categories, I would be highly inclined to send an incentive their way once implemented Smiley

You have tried to make your site simple but with that it makes your site look boring. Most of people are used to with responsive html5 templates this days with cross platform support. I also suggest you to find one such template suitable for your site and also don't try to put lots of ads, if you like to make your site informative, atleast no any ad on homepage. However You can add ad banners on faucet as well as add amazon affiliate plugin for products related to bitcoin and bitcoin mining for extra profit.

It is an good initiative and development ,building website on bitcoin , probably you need to decrease number of advertisements on your site as it may not become user friendly like too many ads on whole website looks inconvenient for the users , and you can improve on the main home page which should look more attractive to the users.

Hello,

Good going with the website, lots of great content!

But I would recommend using either a responsive HTML5 template or a content management such as Joomla with a responsive template.

Joomla is very easy to learn and use, and has some awesome features and templates!

Check out this list of template providers:

http://joomlavi.com/joomla-templates.html
https://www.joomlart.com/joomla/templates
http://www.shape5.com/product_details/club_templates/

Wish you all the best with your venture!

As the website is new,we don't expect much of content in it.Perhaps adding something which would lure more users is recommended.Faucets are completely different market, unless you heavily rely on making money from the faucet adds, don't keep this feature.I'd advise you to implement a transaction/blocks viewer (if that's the right term). After the content is added and of course the design fixed, all you need is an good SEO to get the bacon. Good idea and site but from my point of view u should first try to satisfy visitors. But how to do that?? Simple just design a responsive website when user experience is worst then they might hesitate next time. So if you need help in designing then you can contact me

You need to spend some time actually designing your website, as it stands now, it's just simple html.

Why don't you look at a CMS like Wordpress, for example, you'd have access to many plugins that could improve your ranking on Google and there are also a lot of themes available for free.

I really do appreciate all of the feedback! Like nearly all the replies have mentioned, I do need to reduce some ad placement and actually implement a responsive UI for the content I have so far. Essentially my goal was to make the site have content of use and then return to make that stuff easier to access. Right now having things mobile friendly is the furthest I have come on that front, and will either probably plug existing code into a template or possibly (preferably) hire someone to design a responsive UI for me. I am hesitant to use a CMS simply because of the gigantic security problems associated with running even the most well maintained WordPress or Joomla instance, however this would be an option if I can't find a decent template or get one worked up.

Aside from the UI, does anyone have any more suggestions for content (along the lines of adding a block explorer, as was mentioned)? Like I said, I hope to reach both new and veteran Bitcoin users (thus having both a Bitcoin 101 section as well as an area for ASIC firmwares and associated files), and short of running a blog, I am sure there is useful information I could cover that I am simply not thinking of.

Along with gathering the right quality and quantity of content to make my website a Bitcoin-for-Everyone resource I worry that this approach might either make the site seem to be scattered or not well thought out. I have tried to break the homepage of the site down in to sections to avoid this, and plan on keeping it sectioned at least by topic however I am curious if I might be better off having Beginner / Advanced / Professional tiers (sections) of content; I doubt that someone reading about what a wallet is will be browsing for custom Antminer firmware for example.

Thank you again to everyone who has replied and taken the time to have commented on my work so far; it is very easy to miss all kinds of things working in a vacuum and you all have helped me to avoid that with some helpful and pointed suggestions!

Well you need serious design, but you already know that. Apart from this building your site around faucet is not that great idea imo.
You need something more to attract visitors because your faucet is paying 60 satoshi every 120 minutes and then you have chance to win additional amount of satoshi up to 500?
I am not sure it is competitive at all seems very low. Compared to for example PrimeDice's faucet where they pay you 200 Satoshi every 2 minutes or so.

In my opinion your website must be support for smartphone, because as we know today is era of smartphone many people used it. If the website is support for smartphone. It will make easy to accessing on anytime and anywhere.

I'm glad you specifically mentioned the reward payouts on my faucet as they were mislabeled! I've fixed that and also upped the minimum reward to 100 satoshi, leaving the max reward per claim at 500. I realize this is not the highest paying faucet out there, but I am hoping to have more traffic coming from the rest of my site as I grow the content a bit and make it more accessible via actually implementing a UI.

It was mentioned to make the website smartphone friendly, but it should be mobile friendly already, at least most pages should be. Is this a general suggestion that was made or has somebody visiting from a mobile device not had the page render correctly?

Thanks again!

Your site UI is not good looking, you can improve more graphic on your site, and the font can be better if you change the font, current site is bad looking. Just my 2 cents.

Hard to review. The site consists of a script without any customization. Try to make something unique even if you use a mass faucet script.

The main URL (http://withbitco.in) contains a lot more than just a faucet!
