Lowest I have seen these actually sell for is around BTC5.6

You may be able to get them for cheaper if you shop around and find a place that gives discounts when you buy in bulk.

Series 1 says 2012, right? I never know what that means when people say "series" for these

I had the impression series 1 is 20011, 2 2012, 3 2013.

Series 1 says 2012, right? I never know what that means when people say "series" for these

why does this seem to be such a debate?

series 1 means public key printed on top of the hologram https://www.casascius.com/btcsingle1.jpg

series 2 means public key is on a paper behind a clear window on the hologram http://oi48.tinypic.com/mh84fr.jpg

year is meaningless

Seems like a good FAQ item for casascius.com.

Also, I too am interested in a series 1 5 BTC coin.  Not to threadjack or anything, but, uh, PM me with an offer if you've got one to sell.  Thanks.
