This is wishful thinking! Fiat will exist for several more decades!Probably much longer than you may live. Bitcoin will have to coexist with these scammy currencies. And therefore the number of ATMs will increase more and more. Bitcoin as one world currency is never going to happen.

That's right, I think bitcoin ATM is created exactly to exchange fiat to bitcoin and back. I'm my country there is no bitcoin ATM as I know. But I don't think it's some better alternative to online exchangers. I think ATM is taking even higher tax for transactions than online echangers.

Here in my country there is 2 atm but never tested it yet because it is too far in my place.. but i think it is good to have bitcoin atm because we can easily exchange and withdraw our bitcoin into fiat.. it is good idea if there is an atm that you can deposit and withdraw your bitcoin .. than you are using any remitances to deposit if you really need the money you can withdraw it.. instantly or you want to deposit instantly..

nobody would use them, waste of time and money. people get btc cheaper via bank cash deposit and prefer to pay more via Credit card or paypal staying warm in their couch
I guess you can say that because there are only few users in every country but then if the users increases it will be the demand to the bitcoin to have ATM in every country that have many users and for sure the fee for every transaction will be cheaper if it is implemented

bitcoin doesn't have an ATM, but there are services out there that are offering a way for you to use their service, with a fee i should add, to be able have access to a machine in order to buy and sell bitcoin to fiat at any place outside.

With those machines anyone is able to buy and cashout their bitcoin into fiat currency, this is good to show people bitcoin does have value, and isnt just scammers and hackers that does use those.

Those atms don't have to be the ones that the banks provide. Those are heavy and need to be to deter thieves from breaking into them. Remember that Breaking Bad episode? They can just be a kisok even a tablet as a atm for bitcoin. Just to scan the QR code.

well, it's really cool to have atm bitcoin in a country. I've never seen a picture, but I do not know whether it is genuine or not. might look cool if we use the atm, using a gold-colored atm card, maybe it would look elegant in the eyes of the people

although bitcoin ATM facility is also not available in my country, but still i think that it will be a good idea because though this people will easily exchange their fiat in to BTC and from BTC to fiat currency.

But think about the time when people will like to spend only bitcoins. The fiat will also exist but no one will feel the need of fiat to use it. So in that case people will not like to convert to fiat in these ATMs.

yeah maybe atm bitcoin will not be used or the lower usage when bitcoin accepted throughout the world, but for that to happen would be very difficult, so the current bitcoin atm is still very important to get cash for your bitcoin

Hello guys ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) How many bitcoin ATMs do you have in your country? Here in Portugal there's only one in Lisbon! Do you think there should be more in your country or are sufficient? We have around 14 bitcoin ATM in our country (Europe), but the rates are not very good and there are also buy/sell day limits set on the machine, so I don't think they are widely used. I believe bitcoin users usually use different ways how to earn or convert fiat to bitcoin, than the ATM machines. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

The lowest one I have seen around me (hours away from my city) was 2.6% but now they rose it up to 3.5%. In my country the only ATMs we got are buying only.

Those ATMs walk around so you'd have to know beforehand where to find them. They also have irregular schedule. Back to topic, I don't really know if there are any functioning btc ATMs here. I'm new to bitcoin and haven't cashed in/out yet. The only Philippine exchange I know is coins.ph and the only way to buy btc there is to load it with peso and then convert.
